BOSTON (AP) - Barack Obama's re-election campaign kept up pressure against Republican rival Mitt Romney on two fronts Friday, launching a new ad defending the president's record on Medicare while challenging Romney to release at least five years of tax returns.

You’re still awake? I thought your Mom told you to put the computer away and go to bed.
Ted Kennedy fought tooth and nail to maintain the estate tax. Did you ever look up how he sheltered the family estate by donating to the family trust to be used for “business” and “retreats” by members of the extended family?
Just look at how much of a big deal they made out of putting his dog on top of his car, the guys in DEVO made a song about it.
Tax Returns for Transcripts!
Thanks for the reply. You seem to be holding a grudge at Romney for defeating his opponents. Well, isn’t that the name of the game?
I was never for Romney....until he turned out to be the last man standing....and I’ll be dipped in $h!t if I want 4 more years of the crap we have now.
I was gung-ho for Palin, but she decided not to run. I was then for whoever came next who looked like they might have a prayer, right through Newt, the two Ricks, Bachmann, Cain, et al. But as the primaries came and went, Romney came out on top.
Is it Romney’s fault that Newt has too much baggage for a lot of people? Is it Romney’s fault that Rick Perry made various bumblings and faltered and didn’t get the votes? Or that Bachmann made a few missteps, including having that old two-faced retread as her campaign manager....until he ditched her? Or that Santorum ran out of money?
So Romney had waaaay more money than the rest. Is that a FAULT nowadays? He also has a better organization than any of the others. Do we cry FOUL over that? I thought only Obama and his ilk had those views.
Personally, now that Romney has turned out to be the candidate, I’m HAPPY that he not only HAS money, but that he does well in raising MORE of it for the battle. I’m glad he has an extensive organization, too. Our candidate had BETTER have both of those things in Spades to go up against the filthy ‘rat machine, with all their bundler$ and filthslingers.
Most of us started out rooting for someone other than Romney. But now that he’s the candidate, and now that he’s got a running mate of the highest caliber; it’s time for ALL of us to cut the crap, face reality, stop our sullen pouting and carping, and straighten up and fly right! Keep in mind the lyrics of.....Bob Dylan, was it? “YOU CAN’T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT”!
Fickle much?
Well, everybody needs a hobby. But, if I were you, I'd find a better one than helping Obama to a second term.
“My only consolation is that Myth will be DESTROYED by Obama in the debates ... and Obama will WIN in a Landslide.”
I left out the “sucks” part of your quote because IMO, it doesn’t suck for you.....just for me and everyone else who wants Obama gone.
I’m really sorry I wasted the time and the wear and tear on my “little gray cells,” to quote Hercule Perrot, on someone who is apparently a fraud, who only ranted and raved through the primaries to give himself some bona fides and cover so he could flack for Obummer after the primaries were over. In fact, with remarks like that, and refusing to admit that Romney is our only shot now, and that we all need to get behind him, but hold his feet to the fire once he’s elected; I would not be at all surprised to learn that you not only voted for Obummer, but that you have some hidden connection to the ‘rat machine. Methinks thou dost protest just a bit too much to be genuine. A pox on you AND your attitude. If you’re not a ‘rat shill, then you’re so damned narrow-minded, I’m sure you can peep through a keyhole with both eyes, SIMULTANEOUSLY!

Patton@Bastogne has been around for quite some while — even longer than you. He’s no part of any lefty invasion of FR.
He is, however, among the cadre of hard-core anti-Romney, anti-Mormon conservatives on the site — a cadre that includes the founder, Jim Rob.
Separately, of course, there is a bevy of lefty trolls who enjoy stirring the toxic stew that is Free Republic these days. The two groups shouldn’t be confused — indeed, the more bitter and acid commentary seems to be coming from our own.
I’m a veteran of even longer association and, under the circumstances, I’ve resolved to simply not enter some threads and avoid exchanges with certain FReepers. It’s neither entertaining, enlightening...or productive.
I suggest you might want to consider such an approach. Hopefully, sanity will return to the site sometime after the election.
On average, middle-income families, those making from $50,000 to $75,000 a year, pay 12.8 percent of their income in federal taxes, according to the nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation.
Wrong. A married couple, no kids making $50,000 a year, taking the standard exemptions $3700 each and standard deductions, $5800 each, has taxable income of $31,000. Pays tax of $3804. 7.608%. Add 2 kids, exemptions increase from $7400 to $14800. Taxable income of $23,600. Tax of $2694. 5.388%.
If they make $75,000, their taxable income is $56,000, with no kids. Tax of $7554. 10.072%. Add 2 kids, taxable income is $48,600. Tax $6444. 8.592%.
All rates are lower if their itemized deductions are larger than these standard deductions.
