Why are you pretending this is not political speech? They were protesting Kirill’s alliance with Putin.

Is Kasparov also a criminal?

Were the OWS protesters that were arrested criminals?

If they wanted to protest Kirill's politics, they can go to his offices and chant and yell and march.

Instead, these filth desecrated the altar of a church. They deserve every day of their sentence.

Again, this is not about speech - if you were an Orthodox Christian and had any conception of what they did, you would not persist in your delusion.

Political speech doesn't require you to hijack an altar, or to throw stray cats into some restauranteur's kitchen, or to do perverted things in the parking lot of a grocery store. A soapbox in front of the legislature building or on your doorstep, or an internet blog will do, you can print flyers or write tomes, or you can host your own luncheon and invite people to come to your own property to hear your oh-so-important musings, you can hold concerts in you own venues- not someone else's unless they allow it. You can build a web site for free and rant all you want. But you don't need to hijack someone else's church altar.
