Here Are 3 Notable People You Won’t Hear From at the GOP Convention
The Blaze ^ | August 17, 2012 | Beckel Adams

Several major conservative leaders, including former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, have been invited to speak at the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla.

That’s not a bad lineup.

However, as of this writing, three notable figures are still missing from the list of announced speakers. And we’re not talking about right-leaning celebrities or conservative politicians who have recently found themselves in the spotlight; we’re talking about three public figures who, at one time or another, have played a major role in rallying the conservative base.

But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s get this out of the way: National conventions are little more than an excuse to unite the base and fire up voters. Sure, a few people might show up and dispute their party’s candidate, but, as it has been for quite some time, both parties usually have their nominations tied up long before the conventions roll around.

Therefore, one of the only reasons these rallies still exist is to stoke voter enthusiasm.

That being said, here are three public figures the GOP — if it’s really interested in firing up and uniting the base — should perhaps give a second look:

Newt “Shoot the Moon” Gingrich

Michele “Queen Bee” Bachmann

Sarah “Mamma Grizzly” Palin

Well I sure won't be watching the GOP convention. Not with Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich off the podium.

Arizona Governor Brewer is also missing, as far as I can tell.

She’s opposed President Obama’s agenda more than any other elected official, IMO. Wonder why she’s not invited?

They are missing a bet by excluding these heavy hitters. My own choice for President was Gingrich, but it was not to be. Personally, I think ALL the candidates who ran for the republican presidency should be invited and show their support for Romney & Ryan.

Socon ~ don’t be like Romney and think that doesn’t count. Without the Socon vote YOU LOSE EVERY SINGLE TIME, and they have demonstrated in the past that they will stay home unless you have a satisfactory candidate.

Yeah, Gomer Huckleberry is so “socially conservative” that he wants illegal alien asylum/amnesty and worked hand-in-glove with the Mexican government.

Wish he would stop sending campaign begging letters, I don’t like him or Karl Rove or any rino.

Right after the election, I think it’s time to form a third party.

They rally could have shown unity by inviting all the candidates who ran and Palin. I don’t understand why Rick Santorum was allowed to speak but not Newt, Bachmann and Palin.

Will Allen West speak?

Well I can safely answer my own question with No.

Allen West, a Republican congressman representing Broward and Palm Beach Counties, indicated that although he is not scheduled to speak at next month’s convention, he’ll be there in some form – even if that means being a hot dog vendor.

That Blows. This is not going to unite the party but divide it further. It is time to form a new party.

The best thing SP has been able to say about Romney is that he isn't Obama (I for one agree) and that the only way he will be a success as president is if he has a conservative House and Senate to keep him in check.

She will be working the undercard, particularly the Senate very hard. Weird Harry has to be unseated as Senate Majority Leader.

As to Ryan being the future of the Republican Party... It remains to be seen how he handles the coming sh!t storm the Dems are going to throw at him. It is one thing to have the media write nasty things about you. It is quite another to have press pervs stalking your family. Plus if he isn't willing to press for a complete overhaul of the House and Senate Republican leadership, he will not last as the new face of the party.

***This time around, the GOP-E & Romney have decided they don’t need Socons. They may be right, because 0bama has been such a crappy president.

The time for that was years ago. The party elite and the well connected behind the scenes wanted biz as usual, and that became quite apparent some years ago.
