Rather than comparing the Romney/Ryan to a fanatical attack at poor odds, I would call it merely a sensible refusal to retreat from a defensible position to an indefensible one.A tactic which George W. Bush would have done better to employ.

Rather than comparing the Romney/Ryan to a fanatical attack at poor odds, I would call it merely a sensible refusal to retreat from a defensible position to an indefensible one.Exactly. It's a poor analogy and a poor analysis and ends up on a sour note. Read the end of the article and you see Lowry is pretty pessimistic on this subject and just trying to put on a happy face.
Meanwhile, among adults, the issue itself has to be treated seriously. What did Obama do? What is he likely to do? What is Romney going to do? These are the points that must be repeated, not some silly analogy with some long-forgotten WWI general.
