He said it could have something to do with who was in the crowd, because many attended to voice their opposition to an open carry gun ban.

Ahah, more “Code Words”.

It was disrespectful to ask Americans to say the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish/

They need a new Mayor.

This mayor needs to be gotten rid of.

Him and all who agree with him.

There’s nothing wrong with knowing other languages. I know several........But for everyday stuff, and all else, English only in America.

I see no reason to press one for English and refuse to do business with businesses who cater to illegal aliens in this manner.

Not that I approve but you have to remember that Spanish and English are both official languages of New Mexico per its constitution.

They only want to honor 300 years of history? How about whoever lived there before the Spanish speaking people? They are disrespecting those people, some of whose descendants are living there today.

http://www.aaanativearts.com/tribes-by-states/new_mexico_tribes.htm

If these clowns want to be “inclusive,” and “historic” they have some work to do. The Sandia people lived there about 25,000 BC. I wonder what language they would say our Pledge of Allegiance in? ;-)

A subtle hint, Mayor. People have had enough.

I say drive all of those bastards back over the border. If they are illegal aliens, they don’t belong here so throw them out. If the are legal here but feel that what way, throw them out also. All of them are probably sucking up U.S. largesse anyway.
The gloves are off. I am fed up with these opportunistic lay abouts.

"This town is not part of America anymore."

Well, that may be the way that mayor thinks, but it sure as hell isn't the way American's think - and Americans sure as shootin' aren't going to give it over to Mexico.

I think this article will explain it:

Firearms Restrictions Plan Fails in Corrales (NM)

The meeting was attended by about 30 Second Amendment supporters who were vocal in their opposition to the proposed gun ban and apparently to the Pledge being recited in Spanish, also. Good for them!!

How can a city ban open carry when it is protected in the state constitution?

Uh, Mayor? That little wave lapping around your ankles? That’s the leading edge of a tsunami. Better head to higher ground, bud, because when it breaks, it’s too late to talk about it.

New Mexico hasn’t belonged to Spain since 1821. Juan Carlos seems to be a decent man but there is no reason for people living in a town in the United States of America to pledge allegiance to the king of Spain.

” - - - and even after the mayor explained that it’s a village tradition, the crowd defiantly said the pledge in English.”

Obama made sure that Illegal Aliens are his tools to help him continue to destroy America when he signed his illegal Executive Order for backdoor amnesty for young illegals.

Now that Obama has made his evil intent crystal clear, we Americans need no longer tolerate illegal aliens.

Y’all had a long run living off of our Tax Dollar Welfare, and now it is time to git along home.

BTW, take your “village tradition” and put it where the Sun don’t shine.

Actually is. I think I have read the New Mexico is the only state with two official languages. English and Spanish. It is part of their state constitution dating from 1912. But if ‘Corrales Mayor Phil Gasteyer said the incident was disrespectful, unfortunate and embarrassing’ maybe he should just bar the village residents from attending the public town council meetings.

To all of you out there. Really need to read your history. New Mexico was called this before Mexico was called Mexico. I was there at the meeting and I say the Pledge of Allegiance in English. English is what brings this country together and disapprove of this practice. Haven’t been to many of the meetings lately but will sure be attending more to correct this stupid idea. My family and relatives do not approve of this either. By the way, I am an AMERICAN with a Spanish last name.

As long as the words are right the language doesn’t matter.
