If both pro-amnesty and anti-immigration groups are complaining about Ryan’s record on immigration, that probably means that he is lukewarm on the issue and will go where the public leads him. Frankly, as the article states, Ryan wasn’t selected as Romney’s VP based on his immigration position. As important as it may be for many, this election won’t be won or lost on that issue and, as VP, Paul Ryan won’t be the guy who signs any future immigration bills so his position on immigration, while worth noting, is not going to be of paramount importance to many independent voters.

Good points. I think Ryan probably is lukewarm to immigration issues. And “will go where the public leads him” is my point in posting this article. We have to be prepared to “lead” (probably “push”) Romeny and Ryan on immigration if they are elected.
And while I agree that debt and spending are the issues of most concern right now, as others have pointed out on this board in the past, immigration is part of our debt and spending problem (along with being part of other problems as well).
