I just thought I would second oh8eleven’s remarks about Californians and what they regard as a proper pizza.

Sigh.

Sally’s Apizza in New Haven.
Piece Pizza in Chicago on North Avenue.
Costello’s in Meriden, CT
Modern Apizza in New Haven

Pizza!

Pizza!
I was born and raised in NYC ... yummmm, pizza!
Moved to Rochester (the boondocks!) many moons ago and even THEY didn't use ham and pineapple.

I am so sorry. I never meant to commit an offense against pizza!

You have to realize that I may never find myself in the pizza Mecca which is New Haven, CT, so I am just floundering around out here in CA, trying to compensate for the fact that the pizza sauce is frequently blah, by adding more interesting stuff on top.

But if I ever make it to CT, I’ll happily go with traditional red sauce, cheese, pepperoni and mushrooms.
