Third degree is charring. How is that possible? How is it possible to sit still long enough for that to happen through clothing, even if it is possible?

That was my first thought, too.

At least the lady who sued McDonald’s over her hot coffee knew that she was burned as soon as it spilled. How on earth you could sit still long enough to get a third degree burn from the seat you are on is really hard to imagine.

I guess she couldn’t feel the heat until the fat started to sizzle. She may not have been alerted until the smoke detector went off.
