GOP pros fret over Paul Ryan (GOP operatives strike again like 2008)
Politico ^ | Tuesday August 14, 2012

Posted on 08/14/2012 11:22:58 AM PDT by Bigtigermike

“I think it’s a very bold choice. And an exciting and interesting pick. It’s going to elevate the campaign into a debate over big ideas. It means Romney-Ryan can run on principles and provide some real direction and vision for the Republican Party. And probably lose. Maybe big,” said former President George W. Bush senior adviser Mark McKinnon.

Joked another: “The most popular phrase in Washington right now is: ‘I love Paul Ryan, but …’”

And the more pessimistic strategists don’t even feign good cheer: They think the Ryan pick is a disaster for the GOP. Many of these people don’t care that much about Romney — they always felt he faced an improbable path to victory — but are worried that Ryan’s vocal views about overhauling Medicare will be a millstone for other GOP candidates in critical House and Senate races.

The most cutting criticism of Ryan, shared only by a handful of strategists, is that Ryan isn’t ready to be president — or doesn’t come across as ready. A youthful man who looks even younger than his 42 years, Ryan could end up labeled as Sarah Palin with a PowerPoint presentation, several operatives said.

“He just doesn’t seem like he can step into the job on Day One,” said the strategist, who professed himself a Ryan fan.

“This is the day the music died,” one Republican operative involved in 2012 races said after the rollout. The operative said that every House candidate now is racing to get ahead of this issue.

No need to follow Politico ~ just pay attention to the crowd that's been around Romney. They are as ethically challenged and unprincipled as he is.

It is easy to believe he'd make up stuff about his VP just so he could blame him for any loss later.

Not only are they phoney, do people not realize there are “republican operatives” by the gazillions, such as people working on every single congressional campaign? Some of them in very liberal states.

O’Reilly has on that Mary Katherine Hamm, lovely woman which is why she is on tv. She is so pathetic and agrees with 90% of what the liberal just said before getting out anything pro conservative. Maybe she’s quoted in the article, who cares?

I’m amazed at the “republican spokesmen” who crop up on tv and we’ve never heard of them before.

No it’s not easy to imagine that, in fact it’s preposterous.

But then you are spellbound by a politico article which claims Ryan is a disaster unfit to be president. You even believe Mitt Romney picked Ryan and put out a story the next day that Ryan is unfit.

Some of this crap doesn’t pass the laugh test.

Give me a break. Do you believe the made-up crap of Politico now?

How does “Mr. RINO” pick Ryan? According to the acceptable version of things around here, Romney is the personification of “the GOP Establishment”. Clearly he would not do anything to upset it now would he?

Something is akilter.

You are obviously focused on Ryan ~ and frankly I don't care one way or other about the guy. Romney intends to remove him from the House of Representatives (if he wins), and from politics (if he doesn't win).

My comments are about Romney and his strange ethos.

Frankly I think you shouldn't spout your arrogant thoughts...if you aren't willing to back them up.

I'd bet you a watermelon on it.

Your argument is goofy and you know it....Has nothing to do with destruction of families, abandonment of kids...or abortion.

Geesh.....do you work for the Dims...cause you write like them!!

You're so deep into Romney's trick bag you can't think straight.

Many people on FR agree with me that gambling is sinful. You don't. Guess you think you can somehow manipulate the universe in your favor.

That's called magical thinking.

The myopic viewpoint of these asshats is getting old. They are part of the problem and they don't even realize it.

It's because of pricks like these this country has lurched to the left over the last generation. They want to pander to those with their hands out and their only concern is keeping their position in the “pecking order”.

The ONLY way this will finally be resolved, IMO, is a devastatingly bloody civil war that once and for all removes entitlements permanently.

BTW, the first sign you're turning into a Leftwingtard is you begin imagining that your opponents in a discussion/debate should be silenced.

You're on your way!

Listen girly....I didn't vote for Romney. I don't think and didn't think he was the "right" candidate.

Once again....when you state your strong opinion...and you get called on it. You shrink. Plain and simple.

Man up..or slink away.........

I guess FReepers know now...how you will play it.

BTW, never wanted you silenced. You are lying.

Just challenged. And you won't accept the challenge.

You just want to post here..and not have any skin in the game. You won't back up your posts...with anything of substance.

Fair enough....you are on record.

So you believe...that Romney selected Ryan as his VP...so he could point fingers at Ryan if/when he loses.

Do you really think that?

IF you do...and I guess you do...you are whacked.

You said: "Frankly I think you shouldn't spout your arrogant thoughts" ~ that is a suggestion I be silenced.

So, take your lying accusation of lying somewhere they love that stuff ~ maybe one of those Leftwingtard sites or something.

It's pretty obvious that Mitt has a pile of humorless apparatchiks lined up behind him.

Romney's motive is simple ~ he's not terribly interested in being President but he wants to stay with the in-crowd in the GOP-e, go to their Georgetown cocktail parties, dine on their yachts, visit their estates, and so on. So, he needs a fall guy for what he himself anticipates will be a loss.

Remember, this is the guy about whom EVERYONE AGREED, there was less chance for him to beat Obama than anyone else!

That hasn't changed.

You spin just like the MSM...leaving out facts, editing to your favor.

Here's what I said FULLY...

Frankly I think you shouldn't spout your arrogant thoughts...if you aren't willing to back them up.

Now...muawiyah...respond to that.

I appreciate your answer but your comments are a fantasy. You are making up the scenario that Romney picked Ryan and then criticized him. There is no reason to believe that.

An elipses has more than 3 periods, so you made a complete statement and ended it. And then you made another statement.

In general I carry out conversations on FR in English. Be good to follow the same rules eh. And, ridiculing my moral values will get you nowhere.
