Let me say this right up front: Congratulations to Wolf Blitzer for being a relentless, responsible journalist. If you value the truth, this interview is a pleasure to watch. If you have even an ounce of human compassion for the in-over-her-head target of Blitzer's inquisition, it's positively brutal:
DNC Chair Gets Blitzed By Wolf On False Medicare Attacks
Poor Debbie. She's totally out-gunned and has nowhere to hide. Her talking points are pitifully hollow and cannot withstand even basic questioning. She stubbornly rejects the (correct) premise that the Romney/Ryan Medicare reform plan exempts everyone over the age of 54, and plays fast and loose with numbers -- conflating 55 and 65 on several occasions. When she is brow-beaten into finally acknowledging -- if not admitting -- the truth around the 3:45 mark, she quickly realizes her "mistake" and reverts back into denialism. When Blitzer asks her to specify exactly how current or soon-to-be seniors would be impacted by the GOP plan, she cannot. Because they're not. The Left is intellectually bankrupt on the very subject they claim will allow them to crush Mitt Romney in November. They despise the bipartisan solution Republicans have offered, but they have no alternative of their own. Dear Democrats, Medicare is slated to go bankrupt in 2024. You say it's wrong for future seniors to be denied Medicare as it currently exists. Okay, what's your plan, guys? We know that your actions have already cut Medicare by $700 Billion to pay for part of Obamacare. We also know that Obamacare establishes a government panel to ration care for the elderly. And yet the 2024 deadline is still coming. Again, what's your plan, Democrats? Mr. President? Anyone? I confronted Wasserman Schutlz on this very question last summer, and she gave an incoherent and inaccurate response. Also, here's video of Paul Ryan destroying DWS' talking point about seniors (read: future seniors) having to pay $6,000 more per year for healthcare. A debt crisis is on the near horizon. Entitlement programs are going under. Twenty-three million Americans are unemployed, underemployed or have given up home. GDP growth is slowing. The president and his allies have no plans, so they're forced to invent smears and argue against positions that their opponents don't hold.
I'll leave you with this clip of my debate with Sally Kohn on Fox News. The topic: Whether comparisons between Paul Ryan and Ronald Reagan are apt. Sally, like many liberals, is forced to pretend that she adores Reagan -- arguing that he was far too liberal to win the GOP nomination these days. (Remember, every Republican is either dumber or more evil than the last). This assertion is laughable, and her characterization of Reagan's record is flat wrong. Kohn also offers some, um, creative "interpretations" of what the Romney/Ryan plan would do:
Guy Benson on America Live with Megyn Kelly
The Romney/Ryan plan does not raise taxes on anyone, let alone 95 percent of the country.
UPDATE - Just a reminder: I do not pick on DWS because she's an easy target. I hold her to account because she is Barack Obama's hand-picked leader of his party. She's not a fringe player. She's the DNC Chairwoman, installed at the request of the president of the United States. This seems like a good commercial for Mitt Romney: "I picked Paul Ryan. He picked Debbie and Joe. I'm Mitt Romney and I approve this message."
Don’t believe your ears when you hear a sheep in wolf’s clothing
DWS couldn’t handle it when someone from the MSM called her on her lies. So used to softballs.....
She sorta reminds me of the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz.
Sally Kohn....Why would anybody name his son “Sally”?
“I’ve long wondered why none of these going-down-the-tubes news networks doesn’t adjust their hard-left trajectory just a skosh, if only to see what would happen.”
I could personally turn CNN ratings around in one week. I’d start by hiring James O’Keefe and give him a million dollars to start with and tell him to go do anything he wants to do as long as it was legal.
Then I’d institute good ol’ fashioned yellow journalism as the metric for raises and advancement. The more people you get fired with your stories, the more money you make. There would be bonuses for firings, like the bonuses the New Orleans Saints paid their defensemen for cheap shots. I’d also concentrate on the left because that’s where all the low hanging fruit is since everything they’ve done for the last few years has been completely covered up.
Heck, I think I’d give Joe Arpaio his own show. I’d have a show called “The Birther Show”. I’d hire Glenn Beck and tell him to bring down as many political figures as possible. Another show would be devoted to whistle blowers, both already outted ones as well as new ones, which would be featured with silhouettes and altered voices.
Yellow journalism fireworks 24 hours a day. It would be better than a soap opera. People wouldn’t be able to stop watching. Ratings zoom up and sponsors line up. I’d make money doing this and make lots of it.
Indeed, both lack a brain.
Give CNN a call to give cudos to Wolf

They were solidly on-board with Carter's Greenies and Pinkos back in the 70's until the Iranian Embassy crisis; that's when ABC News launched Nightline, as a kind of daywatch.
The MSM were all hooking it for Carter right up to the election; everyone was nonplussed when Reagan won so handily -- hell, it was a landslide. No incumbent since maybe Grover Cleveland had ever been blown out so hard.
The MSM talking heads were subdued until 1987, when they started cranking up for the '88 race .... and went all-out for the Dims until Dukakis collapsed, and then you could see the air go out of them until Clinton arrived. When Slick won, they started to see their chance to put America away forever, and they've been on a tear ever since.
Because his brother got “Sue”. Johnny Cash sang about that.
Just WOW. Welcome back, CNN.
Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz is admired and believed by typical Democrats and that ilk.
I wonder if CNN is more serious about improving their ratings than they are about sticking to their instinctive “re-elect Ubama” agenda? This is really weird to see a CNN anchor throw anything but softballs at one of their own.
I think Rush addressed this not to long ago and the gist was the MSM folks who call the shots are more concerned with perception than reality. That if they directed their anchors and personalities to be more objective and less lefty, they would find work elsewhere and their network would be trashed internally and by the other lib media. So they've painted themselves into a corner.
Only other choice is to do what pmsnbc did and go "all in" lefty aka the dem party mouthpiece.
I do wish there was a conservative news network that would give Fox a run for their money. They would state that they would not be fair and balanced and would report on news in a way that supports a conservative agenda.
Hey hideous DWS doesn’t even know what party PRIORITIES USA represents.....how can she be expected to know anything!!!! She is such a BAD LIAR!!
“I wonder if CNNs poor ratings have anything to do with it.”
Maybe. They can see that Fox has the highest viewership. Fox is more apt to be honest than not. It’s possible that they can deduce something from these facts and do what they need to in order to be more successful.
It’s not about solving problems for these people. Real liberals misguidedly believe their side is all about rational solutions. Really, their side is all about destruction. They know they can’t bend the world to their will in a free system, so they have to destroy it... this is what Cloward-Piven was all about. They recognized we can’t have a good old-fashioned Bolshevik ho-down as long as there is a middle class. So, they set in to place policies that destroy the middle class, label Republicans the party of the evil rich — when in fact they are the evil rich. I’m not sure why most journalists are “liberal” — I suppose it’s the generational influence of the success of the Nixon impeachment. But they are “liberal” in the very clueless sense I’m talking about... obviously, Blitzer isn’t on the same page as those he admires. Maybe ... briefly ... he just realized that himself?
Just called. asked to be transferred to comment line. told them with more honest reporting like wolfs i might begin to watch cnn.
Medicare is, and always was, a socialist time bomb.
The promise to pay all “usual, customary, and reasonable” charges, forever, WITHOUT KNOWING IN ADVANCE WHAT THEY ARE is a promise to wreck the budget.
That is exactly what has happened, and no “reform” which does not restrict HOW MUCH OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY will go to this every year can succeed.
