And if those ordinary people just happen to be union members, that extrication comes at a hefty price!

That's what we hope to do -- to free or release from an increasingly dangerous situation the capacity of ordinary people to pursue happiness. The Democrats, on the other hand, are doing their best to extirpate that capacity, i.e. " to remove or destroy [it] completely."
That's one of the principal issues in this campaign.
