So why did Manzano carry two flags with him on his victory lap? As the world looked on, he held up both the U.S. flag and the Mexican flag. Not a good look. And not a good idea... It's about being part of a team -- the U.S. Olympic team. It's about national pride, not ego. Manzano wasn't there to compete for himself but to represent his country. All he had to do was decide which country that was... This country took you in during your hour of need. Now in your moment of glory, which country deserves your respect -- the one that offered nothing to your parents and forced them to leave or the one that took you all in and gave you the opportunity to live out your dreams?

If you can tell me of any instance when that has ever happened (and I'll allow you to insert any European country in that Ireland slot) with any USA Olympic athlete, I'll take your bigotry test.
If he is a dual citizen, which is legal, he should have chosen which country to compete for and stick to it! It’s ok for people of one country to cheer for people of other countries, but it’s not ok to compete for both, sorry. Fail.
No, and rightfully so. There's not tens of millions of lawbreaking Irish swarming our country, depleting our resources and spitting in our collective faces.
Of course this reminds me of an old joke. How come there is not a Mexican olympic team? Any one of them who can run, jump or swim are already over here.
How about a loyalty oath for these athletes?
How about one for our President and much of our Congress??
Had he been a naturalized citizen born in Ireland, carrying the Irish flag with the American flag, would we be taking as much notice? < /self-test for bigotry
The real piece of garbage is Becky Hammon, who just because she wasn’t picked for the US women’s basketball team, decided to play for Russia.
Here’s what I don’t get.
Mexico treats their indigenous population like crap....it’s like Apartheid-era South Africa, where a minority of white Europeans control almost all of the wealth.
Watch Mexican Soap Operas, they are all White European looking for the most part.
Why carry a flag of such a country?
Athletes like Bolt and Manzano have impressed of late with their on-track performance, sad the bantering and multi-flag display take some of that luster away from their achievements..
Both seem to have identity crises, who are they? One is A Legend and the second, opbviously a Man of Two Minds as to how he came to where he is , on a Olympic podium, representing the future of this country perhaps .. in the end, they will bear the abuse of their successes.
Stupid
I believe that in California and the Southwest the Mexican flag will soon be flown alongside the American flag on public buildings.
Many are predicting that within less than 10 yrs there will be extensive rioting. I'll concur & predict that within 50 yrs this nation can possibly be split up as Yugoslavia.
Yes the ratings have been huge. I guess you missed it.
This is another reason why I despise Mexico and it’s people.
They don’t call it reconquista for nothing. These people are so tone deaf, they do not know or care to know how offensive and arrogant their behavior is while they are oh so sensitive to any slight or offense real or imagined.
How about the case of Lennox Lewis. Competes and wins gold for Canada years ago in boxing. Later while turning pro decides more money to be had by becoming English again since he also had UK roots. Does well for many years as Heavyweight Champion and indeed makes lots of doe re mi. I no longer think too much about athletes and their degree of loyalty to nation states.
