WASHINGTON Parents are urged to teach their kids to speak up if they witness school bullying in new ads that target an issue that top Obama administration officials vow to make a national priority.
long-term campaign featuring television, print and web ads was unveiled Monday and will start running in October. The campaign is a joint effort by the Ad Council, a nonprofit that distributes public service announcements, and the Free to Be Foundation, a group that includes entertainers Marlo Thomas, Alan Alda and Mel Brooks.
one television ad, two girls are seen bullying a schoolmate, mocking her appearance and telling her that nobody likes her. A fourth girl looks on but doesn't intervene.
"Every day, kids witness bullying," says a narrator. "They want to help, but don't know how. Teach your kids how to be more than a bystander."
Online and print ads will warn parents that their kids regularly encounter negative messages such as "you're worthless" and "everybody hates you."
ads were unveiled Monday at an annual anti-bullying summit hosted by the Department of Education in Washington, where lawmakers, educators and government officials convened to develop a national strategy aimed at ensuring a safe, healthy learning environment for students. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius addressed the summit Monday, and Education Secretary Arne Duncan will deliver a keynote speech on Tuesday.

I think Nat is coming your way for Labor Day — treat her right — lots of gunplay and beer, please :)
The question was:
if you were **me**?
Given my position, (that we should begin privatizing K-12 education) the behavior of the Wisconsin teachers, and the damage done to their capitol building, do you think it at all wise for **me** to be giving out personally identifying information?
Really? Do you think this would be a wise thing for **me** to be doing?
Do you have any links to articles that might change my mind or the minds of others? Personally, as far a Public Relations go, the trashed Wisconsin capitol building was a set back for socialist-entitlement K-12 schooling.
Through Freepmail - sure...why not? As long as you and I have been chatting I would think you would know I’m not in the least bit dangerous - would I post it on a public forum, probably not. That’s a little bit ‘look at me’ behavior
“I always taught my kids not to bully other kids, but if someone bullied them to kick the crap out of them”
Pretty much what I told my son’s 6th grade teacher years ago when she did a week long anti bullying program.
It served both my sons well. They were each bullied at one time or another and gave back better than they got and it ended right there.
Yup!
What our favorite government school hater fails to understand is that not all public school teachers are "union thugs" no matter how many times she is reminded.
Am I to conclude that you have never changed you mind about anything in the past 42 years? You are that consistent in your beliefs and conclusions? Wow! I am impressed! If so, you are far better person than I am. ( That's a compliment, by the way.)
But...You are **absolutely*** correct. I am a complete **hypocrite**!
Confession Time:
I used the godless government owned and run socialist-entitlement indoctrination camps for BABYSITTING! Yep! I** DID** do that for the few **weeks** that I took the other two homeschooling children to Costa Rica to attend Spanish language school. In fact, I did it MORE than once! It's hard to remember, but I may have done it TWICE! Maybe THREE times. It's hard to remember, being that it was almost a quarter of a century ago.
But...MEA CULPA! MEA CULPA! MEA CULPA! ( Right hand striking the breast over the heart!)
Oh! Good! Confession is soooo good for the soul! I am now back to being my usually fuzzy and happy self again! :-)
( Please see my tag line.)
And this latest diatribe has exactly what to do with my comment?
And you have the nerve to accuse others of using strawmen, which is a personal attack - something you claim to never do.
Every one in the building was wearing a teachers unions T-shirt? WOW - were you there, did you witness it or are you once again just speculating because of your really creepy hatred of public schools and anyone associated with them?
The final consequences of this anti-bullying campaign in the government schools will be a future nation of TOADIES!
Re: Anti-bullying indoctrination in the government schools
It was pointed out today in an article on the American Thinker website that actions that happen today, ( such as anti-bullying indoctrination) are rarely like a row of dominoes. (If we push one domino in a row they all fall down. )
No, no, ... The future political, cultural, and religious consequences are rarely so identifiable like a falling row of dominoes.
My prediction:
This anti-bullying indoctrination of children will be more like a Rube Goldberg contraption. Push lever, A, which triggers, pulley G, and so on , until we finally get result Z.
What will be result Z?
Answer: We will have a nation of TOADY government SNITCHES! The effects on our nation's future men will be especially profound. They will be rendered incapable of defending themselves, their families, or OUR NATION!
That is the ultimate Marxist/ leftist/progressive/ Bill Ayers/ liberal/ communist/fascist GOAL!
I did not use the word “everyone”. I can not defend a strawman.
And....Should I now add “creepy” hater to the long list of **personal** insults?
It has to do with “distain”.
Post #139 was asking what should I or others think of government schooling, and then I proceeded to list the qualities of government schooling?
What should be the **rational** reaction?
Oops! Sorry! That should be, “disdain”.
I know how you feel about these things. You have told us enough times.
Some one asks for salt you hand him pepper. I understand that you were some sort of medical person, is this how a medical professional treats their patients?
Here is my original from 10 days ago: Do you have any studies supporting this? Do you have any studies showing that home school students earn more money, are more mentally/ emotionally stable, or perform better in college? and your reply: You did get what you want.By your own admission studies have not been done and now you change your story that the studies have been, yet not one of them answers the question.
As you have to others "This says so much more about you."
