Besides knocking Walker out of competition for the Presidency in a future election, did anyone catch why Ryan didn't propose abolishing Departments of Education, Energy, Agriculture, and several of the others with no Constitutional basis?

Seems to me simply abolishing those agencies would give you all the personnel cuts you needed.

Oh, and selling off the public lands would do quite a bit to dispose of Department of Interior and all the problems they create.

“Oh, and selling off the public lands would do quite a bit to dispose of Department of Interior and all the problems they create. “

If they did this they’d spend the money rather quickly and it would be gone. No source of revenue will help without cutting spending - thus your point about cutting government agencies it the best approach.

Selling allot of Federal Land and assets would go a long way to paying down the debt. The Federal Government owns 45% of California and over 80% of Alaska. The sale of half the land in California could do a great deal to eliminate the Federal debt.

I agree with you on eliminating departments, but that will have to wait until he is in a position to do so. I wouldn't announce it now, for that would invoke a media feeding frenzy.

As for selling public lands, even a 10% reduction in Federal Landholdings and a moratorium on declaring National Monuments and Wilderness Area/Wildlands designations would be a good start.
