“I’m sorry but the basic supposition that you can reside over the WORST ECONOMY IN MODERN US HISTORY and get re-elected is nonsense.”

FDR did.

And got re-elected, not once, not twice, but THREE times!

I admire your optimism, but Obama has “grown food stamps and welfare” so much, that many of “his people” (and I don’t just mean the black ones) no longer care about unemployment. Instead, they care about entitlements.

The election will be much closer than you predict...

If Obama does win again, it could be said he didn’t achieve victory on his own. (He has all those entitlement people to thank.)

You have a point but the 1940 and ‘44 elections were when we were preparing and then involved in WWII. After the blowouts of the 1936 election the Democrats were beginning to loose Senate seats. The ‘44 election with Dewey was closer than expected. At that point many people knew Roosevelt was ill and probably dying. Bambi is no Roosevelt. He has lost his “mojo”. The young will not turn out for him and the regular Dems. will not either. Not in the numbers they did in’08. It very well may be close but if Romney actually unloads on Bambi it could be a blowout. Gas is shooting up. No one in their right mind thinks anything is better. In the ‘36 election Roosevelt could point to a slightly better economy. Not much but something. He had not alienated voters like Bambi.
