I’m for US jobs too, but simply propping up failing businesses is no solution. We’ve seen Obama startups like Solyandra run through their grants & guaranteed loans only to close the doors and lay everybody off.
The broader economy needs relief from an energy policy that is causing $4 gas. The economy needs relief from onerous regulations from OSHA & EPA. The average American consumer needs tax relief, so that they have disposable income.
Thanks for responding, but I suggest seriously we take it about 5 steps further than that.
China is protectionist. Seriously so.
There is (zero) reason for China to be protectionist.
As China rises, this will become an increasing problem. Already is in fact.
We need to do something NOW about China’s future. Make a decision as they say.
Either China opens up and joins the world. Or China goes it alone.
One or the other.
We’ve played half-way on China for too long.
Make a decision.
Meanwhile our side, should begin moving factories out of China.
