Washington (CNN) - Mitt Romney's unfavorable rating is up, most Americans think the Republican presidential challenger favors the rich, and the public no longer believes that the economy will get better if Romney is elected, according to a new national poll.
But a CNN/ORC International survey released Thursday also indicates that Romney's supporters are increasingly getting behind the presumptive GOP nominee.
It all adds up to a seven point advantage for President Barack Obama over the former Massachusetts governor, with 52% of registered voters questioned in the survey saying that they'd vote to re-elect the president and 45% backing Romney.
"Among independent voters, the poll indicates President Obama has a 53%-42% lead," CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said. "The president holds a nine point advantage among women voters and a smaller six point edge among men."

Do you really believe this sh6t? You know you can oppose Romney without sucking on CNN/ORC kool aid. The two are not mutually exclusive.
Same as the Fox poll. Registered voters. Unreliable poll.
I heard this same argument before the McCain-Obama election.
I heard this same argument before the McCain-Obama election.
Remember the 96 election with Dole and Clinton? There was no one that could be found anywhere that said that they didnt’ vote for Clinton in 92 that had changed their minds and was voting for him in 96. Yet he won with 49% in comparison to the 43% he won with in 92.
It’s been my observation that Fox has modified its format to ease into the void CNN is creating.
I don’t trust Fox and don’t trust polls.
I’d rather discern.
The sooner the better.
“CNN/ORC’s Joke Poll....17% Weighted In Favor Of Democrats!!
...The PDF shows they reportedly polled ‘1,010 adult Americans’ with a margin of error of ‘ plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.’
Not registered voters, not likely voters, just ‘adults’.
...Subtract the Democrat percentage of the sampling from the Republican percentage and you come up with...a 17% oversampling of Democrats and Independents leaning Democrat.”

And your prediction this election? Will you be doing cartwheels again?
Reagan was the best president of my lifetime. He wasn’t perfect, but he came close. I don’t expect to ever see a president as good as him, unless we elect a TEA Party man or woman to the nation’s highest office. Of course, Romney is not a TEA Party candidate.
If Sarah Palin or Allan West was the nominee, and won the election, yes, I would do cartwheels, or at least I would ATTEMPT to do cartwheels. While I prefer Romney to Obama, Romney’s election would make me happy to see Obama gone, but not enough to make want to dance in the street or do cartwheels. I view Romney more as a place holder for a future TEA Party president.
I would be stunned if ANY candidate would get anywhere close to 489 Electoral College votes every again. The country is too polarized, too many are on the dole, and the demographics have changed for the worse. The 489 electoral votes that Reagan tallied did give him a mandate, however.
Very interesting comment. I agree with you, although I must admit I had not thought of the elections in these terms before.
