The future? Or simply the high point of dependency before a reverse?
That's what the election will be about.
The Weekly Standard:
A new chart set to be released later today by the Republican side of the Senate Budget Committee details a startling statistic: "Over 100 Million People in U.S. Now Receiving Some Form Of Federal Welfare."
"The federal government administers nearly 80 different overlapping federal means-tested welfare programs," the Senate Budget Committee notes. However, the committee states, the figures used in the chart do not include those who are only benefiting from Social Security and/or Medicare.
Food stamps and Medicaid make up a large--and growing--chunk of the more than 100 million recipients. "Among the major means tested welfare programs, since 2000 Medicaid has increased from 34 million people to 54 million in 2011 and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, or food stamps) from 17 million to 45 million in 2011," says the Senate Budget Committee. "Spending on food stamps alone is projected to reach $800 billion over the next decade."

In order for the government to give a dollar to someone, it must take a dollar from someone else.
How long ago was that? Was this the case in your hometown before Obama was elected President?
As long as I can remember people always said this area is “economically depressed”
Even the old timers use to talk about it being worse when they grew up.
Part of the problem is the area is isolated and the other part is people around here didn’t like outsiders.
Father’s impragnating their daughters and teacher’s perverting their students...I guess that goes on everywhere?
Anyhow, the evil “flat landers” who came up into the country form the cities and bought up the cheap land for summer camps and or retreats.
With their big city idears. [spit]
Although, outsider could be anyone who was born as far away as 30 mile of town and definitely if you came from another county.
Some of it is justified but most of it was a crock of crap.
It didn’t help that the public school system stunk. I remember teacher’s going on strike almost every year or every other year.
Things have improved greatly since the Marchlius Shale.
Although, they had a difficult time finding 20/30 year olds who wanted to work.
The ironic part of it most of the gas/oil people are all “outsiders”
God love em..:)
In order for the government to give a dollar to someone, it must take a dollar from someone else.
In order for the g’mint to give a dollar to someone, it must take $1.80 from someone else.
well, my wife, who was downsiezed almost two years ago, and unable to find anything above teh mendoza line since then, has officially ceased to be a statistic...her “unemployment” has run out, and she still has no opportunities.
Fortunately, we will survive on my salary, and not have to eat dog food, but I will not be able to retire for a LONG time, as her circumstances will force me to work well into my golden years.
While she continues to look for gainful employment, I hold out no hope, as companies are not hiring, fearful of the cost. And so....we keep on keeping on.
Way to go, Bozo.....ya killed the american dream.
In order for the government to give a dollar to someone, it must take a dollar from someone else....Wrong. In order to give a dollar to someone, it must take FOUR from someone else to pay administrative costs and the gimme.
100 million are on some form of “assistance” but what percent works for government that doles out the bennies?
Not to mention all the people who get government funds like public unions and NPR employees and GE and GM and Fannie Mae and global warming “scientist” on and on.
Government employees and people who inherited wealth or actors who get paid insane ammounts of money for pretending to be other people.
They are your ardent dimwit obama supporters.
Most of them could give to craps about USC.
if its true, were done for. all else we do is a waste of time.
TWO LESSONS, SAME GOVERNMENT
A lesson in irony. —
The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is actually proud of the fact it is distributing the greatest amount of free meals and food stamps ever.
Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us to “Please Do Not Feed the Animals.” Their stated reason for the policy is because the animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves.
