Former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman stopped by CNNs Starting Point on Tuesday, where she weighed in on the increasingly heated election battle between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, explaining why candidates go after red meat issues that, while often exciting to discuss, dont make much of an impact come voting time.
Who do you worry about?, she said. Your base. And your base tends to be those people who do vote in primaries and are now voting more tend to be the people who are the most partisan. And so they respond to the red meat, as we call them, issues that arent necessarily the ones that determine our everyday life. I mean, how many people wake up and they sit down at the breakfast table and say, Oh, my god, a gay couple moved in next door? Thats not what they talk about. They talk about, Am I going to be able to afford the rent? Whats going to happen to my childs education? How do I afford health care? Those are the issues that we need to have discussed.

Nothing identifies a RINO as quickly as references to ‘red meat.’
Beyond the lazy reliance on a cliche, it’s a clear indication that the so-called Republican views his/her own with disdain.
RINOs have no chance of winning without Conservatives. The GOPe is really that stupid. Another 4 years of Soetoro courtesy of the GOPe. They love Barry.
When will this worthless wretch go away?? Go hang out with Specter and Jeffords and Dede and Charlie, talk about old times. But go away or join the democratic party if you want to be around like-minded people.
Base?
Romney is a liberal, he governed as a liberal and has made it quite clear he doesn’t work with or like conservatives, so what is Whitman talking about?
Romney already ignores the base.

Someone playing damage control?
Leftists keep telling us that gay marriage is “not important enough” to discuss. So, I have an idea: let’s just stop it where it us until it is deemed to be important enough. We will freeze the whole issue until it is “important enough”.
But that’s not what they mean, is it? They want US to stop discussing (opposing) it so they can have their way and make it legal and normal. They can only rule in a nation where no one ever opposes them, because sane humans naturally know that everything they stand for it inherently wrong.
Wonder if Whitman is the VP-to-be.
Mrs. Whitman wouldn't know a conservative if they punched her in the face and straitened her teeth.
In a word...no.
Nobody on our side is THAT stupid.

Good! I couldn’t read any further any way. Throwing up once while reading an article is enough for me.
Being from NJ I have thrown up enough times because of this CRONE.
Chrissie Whitman is the WORST governor New Jersey EVER had. Even WORSE than Jon Corzine.
Further, Ann Coulter referred to her as a “birdbrain.” As assessment in which I fully concur.
If you want to hear what the echo of RINOism is inside a toilette bowl, listen to Chrissie Whitman.
She also did a STERLING job as head of the EPA, ANOTHER position for which was eminently unqualified. She tried her best to stab Bush in the back while in office and shorlty thereafter.
She and her liberal Bagman, Lewis Eisenberg are a national travelling roadshow - trying to sell New Jersey Liberal RINOisms all over the Country.

I think Whitman and Kay Bailey Hutchison are discussed, if not on the list.
I do believe Romney wants to move left and challenge Obama for the liberal-moderate voters, I think he doesn't care about conservatives, and I think he has to shore up his support with women.
Whitman or Hutchison would do all the above. Condaleeza Rice and Susanna Martinez also offer additional possibilities.
If there is a Hollow Earth she is from there. :-}

Ughh. Christie Toad Whitman. Poster child of the RINO’s. Milquetoast, vanilla, pablum-driveling, spineless, butt-kissing, pandering, weak-kneed, arrogant, mealy-mouthed, condescending, trite, stand-for-nothing and completely principle free. Did I leave anything out? With Republicans like her, why bother having DemocRats?
Not to mention she single-handedly took the GOP from majority to minority status following Flim-Flam Florio, from which it has never recovered. People like Whitman, Weld & Willard are nothing but Democrat agents looking to destroy the GOP from within.
Oh, she has “principles”... she’s a leftist moonbat.
