Cruz Missile
Real Clear Politics ^ | August 8, 2012 | William Murchison

Posted on 08/07/2012 12:46:34 PM PDT by RitaOK

As a smasher of idols, Cruz's gift is for the sharp, short, telling blow that reveals the defects and deficiencies of the present product being hawked in Washington. Quite a large number of good people, actually, are similarly exercised about America's present career path. Cruz, as it happens, speaks better and more passionately than most of them. That would include David Dewhurst, a very good man and a very good conservative: just not passionate by nature.

The needs of the hour seem to include passion -- conviction -- verve -- zeal. Of which, Ted Cruz has a large supply. In a way, he's the same pig-in-a-poke that Obama was: scant experience in government and high ratings as an orator. Even Obama had a little more legislative experience. What Cruz has that Obama, if he has it, never has displayed is a sense of the possibilities inherent in human freedom.

Those possibilities electrify a senatorial candidate whose father, a near penniless Cuban immigrant, came to America, dreaming of ... how to put it? Dreaming of more than he had. His son connects with that dream in a way in which the author of "Dreams of My Father" seems oblivious.

Cruz is not a countryfied speechafying yocal from Texas railing just to set your hair on fire, but smart, politically incisive and a constitutional master both in the field and on the floor of the US Supreme Court, with the oratorical skills to take you through a precise legal argument with some command.

We need more candidates like Cruz. The guy may take it much further than the senate one day and I would like to hear him do a number at the Republican Coronation, er, convention.

Our future will be born at the convention, after all. Will it be milquetoast socialism perpetually, or a conservative with the finess to be president beyond the proverbial cult following to which most all real conservatives are subjugated to? I wish him well.

Hey, I get it...you used a lib site, real clear politics, to post a story showing how the libs respect and fear Ted Cruz. So when anybody laughs at some words from the article, I know the source, and I know you were making a point with this and were not endorsing the libs POV on Dewhurst or in general.

Of course not.

huh?

Trust me, I’m proven on many occasions not-that-bright, but what ARE you talking about?

RCP has columns from both sides every single day. Cruz has weighed in on current political events. Someone wrote about it.

The problem is.........who, what, where, when, why, how, etc.?

I know. Murchison is a Texas liberal who undoubtedly favored Dewhurst.

Too bad it ain't a virus. Maybe the Mormon Milquetoast could come down with it. Well, if we don't like Mitt's namby side ... all we need do is wait a minute and the pamby will show up.

Mitt is like a big bowl of no-fat, no-sugar, whipped, artificial vanilla flavored, "0" calories frozen yogurt. No toppings.

Well Mitt baby, now's the time to hitch up your special underwear and go get me some chopped nuts from Obama. Get tough or get us lost ...again. Hand this phony girlie-man his ass and kick'im when he's goin' down.

This the Big Show and we have paid dearly for the tickets, so deliver!

If one person can blow this election, Willard is it. Dump this fraud before he takes the whole ticket down with his sorry Socialist ass.

There are quotes in this specific article that other freepers mentioned were so wrong, that they were going to ignore everything else the article said.

I was taking your side.

The article claims good things about Dewhurst, for example, and there were those who slammed the article for doing that, and laughed at the article and said it wasn’t worth reading a word of.

Like I said, I was taking your side.

We agree on Ted Cruz.

Thank you for clearing that up. Murchison views made me bristle too, but he is right that zeal is the tone of the electorate’s mood and Cruz fits it. Appreciate your reply. I have been barking lately. :o)
