It is somewhat miss leading comparing Syria to Serbia. Syria has no good side, while Serbia did have a good side. And it was not the Clinton's.
What you indirectly address is “political correctness” the ne orthodoxy. You shall not mention religion lest someone might hate that religion. Here is an example. Nidal Hussan is a Wahhabi Sunni. Mohamed Atta and his killing crew were all Wahhabi sect Sunnis. Wahhabi sect Sunnis comprise roughly 100 million of the 1 billion Sunnis . That’s a lot. There are no Wahhabis that believe in not killing non believers. Now back to this godless murderer at Ft Hood. What are we doing there? Well, nothing. He should have been hanged on TV for killing 13 and wounding 43 unarmed (what?)soldiers but we hide him for fear the sheeple might wake up and ask “ Are there any more Wahhabis in our military?” or WORSE!! “Are there any more Wahhabis in our COUNTRY?” GET THEM OUT OF HERE!! But no we hide him from the sheeple and they have such short little memories— it will all go away.
The rebels are a mishmash of “ordinary” fed up Syrians, MB and Saudi backed militants... fair to say, at this time, almost all are Sunni.
There were two high level Iranian trips...... one to Syria and another to Riyadh.
The first was to warn Assad that their support was being withdrawn
The second was to place oil on the waters and soothe the coalition desire to go beyond Syria to the Iranian source of the problems.
I think neither will be worth the time and effort.
Assad is gone, probably will die, Iran will be totally isolated.
