This has been one of my guesses.
It is risky because P has no political experience. Seems to be a very good man. Certainly understands the military and foreign policy.

I really hope he picks one of the several republican governors that were elected in the last 4 years (I would even take Christie over a non-governor - Palwenty is excluded). Petraues, like all these big time generals, are political animals at heart and have instinctively learned how to please people.

Not worried about political experience. You have to be the best at dealing with people and hardest worker to rise to the top of the military ranks. The thing that worries me is his philosophy, which we don’t know. Is he a neo-conservative or was he just following orders? Where does he stand on God, guns, and gays? We know nothing about him.

Moveon.org would absolutely love it .....’Betrayus’. Of course then Romney could get in front of a microphone and tell Zero to get his stooges to knock it off.

I’m neutral on P’s nomination.
I would like to point out, though that Eisenhower had no elected political experience, either, and he wasn’t a bad president.......

The military prepared Dwight Eisenhower quite well for the presidency. Eisenhower's diplomacy, political and executive skills were developed at the highest levels during his various roles with the U.S. Army.
I have no concern about Petraeus' qualifications to be president or vice-president whatsoever.

It is risky because P has no political experience. That's a sad statement, and true. He hasn't learned to lie, obfuscate and game the system, which makes him a risky pick.

Speaking of "P," the only general who could save the republic is Pinochet, who although still dead, probably has more fight in him than The Mormon Milquetoast. Obama is our Allende.
Somebody ought to tell Mitt to tough and to get busy. He ain't gonna sweet-talk this MF out of free housing.
