Thank you, my shining Star*

We knew he wasn’t going to last much longer. He had been
deteriorating at an increasingly faster rate for a month or two.

A week ago today, I took him outside to play in the grass
(and eat a little). I supervised his outdoor excursions and
never let him out by himself. There are too many big raptors
out there, including the Bald Eagles from over at the lake.

I am so happy that he got one more play date outside before
the end. Three days later, he died before we had a chance to
get him to his vet’s appointment last Saturday.

He’s supposed to come home tomorrow or Friday. I have a
pretty wooden box for his ashes, and I will keep them for all
my life.

Oh dear heart, that last play date was
special .. it’s so good you did that .. I
know it must bring some small warmth to your
aching heart. They hate to leave us, too,
I’m convinced .. until we meet again. He’s
at the Rainbow Bridge .. and in peace. My hugs
and condolences across these airwaves to you.

We lost our little Molly almost three years ago, and I still call out to her and ask her how things are going at the Bridge, and if she has made lots of friends.

When we got her ashes, my wife had gotten a little pendant in which to keep a part of her close to our hearts. It's right here in front of me now.

I just told Molly to go find Rocket and show him around. They'll get along fine I'm sure. (((Hugs to you)))

Now I’m in tears. I know how you feel. It’s such a comfort to have them near.
