RNC Convention Speakers Feature Rice, Martinez, Haley in Star-Studded Lineup
Townhall.com ^ | August 5, 2012 | Elisabeth Meinecke

Sounds like fun already ... the Tampa Bay Times released the names of some of the speakers slated for the RNC convention in Tampa later this month, and it looks to be a promising lineup. The Times reported that, as of now, it's unclear where these speakers are slotted, and the rest of the lineup--including the keynote speaker--remains unknown. Names so far include conservative powerhouses New Mexico Gov. Susanna Martinez and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley. Florida Gov. Rick Scott is also speaking.

Here's a portion of the Times report:

Florida Gov. Rick Scott, Sen. John McCain and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice are among seven headline speakers announced today for the Republican National Convention in Tampa.

The first look at featured speakers also includes South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez.

The keynote speaker and others will be named closer to the Aug. 27-30 event, Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus said in announcing the headliners, whom he called "some of our party's brightest stars, who have governed and led effectively and admirably in their respective roles."

So far, the lineup looks off to a fairly good start. Conservatives will definitely be represented well--both socially, with the inclusion of Mike Huckabee, and practically, with competent and current gubernatorial voices like Martinez and Haley--and Rice remains a popular figure in the GOP.

With all due respect, we know what awaits our country if Obama is re-elected. We don’t definitively know what Romney will do and that is a far better peg to hang my hat on for the next four years.

I would rather Sarah not be a part of the GOPe gang in any way because when they screw it up, they will again attempt to hang it on her.

Let’s face the facts that Romney is not going to be as much of a screw-up than Obama. But then again, I say he is not screwing up but just the mouthpiece for a plan to ruin this country so his daddy Soros can scrape up the spoils before he moves on to his next game piece.

The fact that Sarah does not get close enough to get any of this mess on her when it explodes gives heartland American types of both sides of the aisle to look to come 2016. Lets just keep the mama grizzly candidates winning down ticket so when she does run, she will have a friendly House and Senate from which to work with.

With that said, we all know how malleable Mitt is so if we have a strong Conservative House and Senate, he can be pulled to the right jut as easily as he was pulled to the left in Mass.

The feeling is already mutual. Texas, Nebraska and what we may see tomorrow will tell how solid my assessment is.

What? No rousing oratory from Dick Lugar? How about Chuck Hagel... isn`t he available? Alan Simpson? How about that legendary agent of change Trent Lott? Christine Todd Whitman?

Thanks, GOPe for bringing such inspiration...

I will because he’s the lesser of two evils. But every time the RNC calls my house asking for money, I tell them if they’ll share when Sarah is speaking the check will be sent immediately.

I would like to see the TEA party have their own convention and put up their own candidates ..........I’m thinking that would stir things up—and maybe get rid of a lot of the establishment people. I would make it a combination rally/convention-and get rid of the boys in the back room.

Let everyone who attends the convention have a vote. ( Just thinking a bit out of the box here................)

The convention could be paid for with donations, large and small.

Instead of bitching you might want to read this article in Breitbart from August 2 by John Nolte

Palin Slams Media, Says She's 'Comfortable' Not Speaking at Convention

In a wide-ranging interview with FNC's Eric Bolling yesterday, Governor Sarah Palin said that the Romney camp has been in touch regarding the convention, but that nothing is yet confirmed. She also said that she "just want[s] to help" and, like Newt Gingrich, is comfortable with the idea of "speaking or not."

The video is below. This excerpt starts at 3:20:

Sometimes helping means you step aside and certainly you don’t invite yourself into a leadership or speakership type role at a convention like this. You try to work with the strategy the campaign has in place, and evidently Romney's campaign has a strategy that they will implement. And whether I'm there or not as a speaker, I'm comfortable either way just like Newt Gingrich said he was comfortable either way -- speaking or not.
Palin also made clear that she and Governor Romney have a good relationship:
Speaking personally, there is no hatchet to bury or olive branch that needs to be passed between Mitt Romney and myself. We have a good relationship and I have great respect for him and I am so thankful the GOP has a strong candidate who understands the private sector and what it takes to get the economy roaring again.

Perhaps you should stop your temper tantrum and whining.

Maybe you don't realize any vote for a third party candidate will be a vote for that arrogant pos occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. I hope you will be happy if he gets reelected and finishes the destruction of this great Nation. You will have it on your conscience

Nope, the only one that matters now is tomorrow night. The way I see it, either she or Brunner are good. Maybe Brunner since he is from business and not a career politician. The one nasty thing I saw on her bio is that she voted against Tort reform while in the state legislature and that may be because her hubby is a trial lawyer.

That's it, right there. THAT is why I will vote for Romney....AND to get rid of that POS in the White House I'd vote for ANYONE ELSE.

Kaslin, this is Mr. RomneyCARE's KARMA running over his dogma. [By Seamus]

We do NOT care what victims say when they
demonstrate Stockholm syndrome.

Mr. RomneyCARE is a VICIOUS BACKSTABBER WHO OWES HER AN APOLOGY.

Don't you think it is long overdue, too, Kaslin.

FLASHBACK:

The McCain/Palin ticket was up ++4 to 10 pts
in some polls, days prior to Election 2008.
So rather than helping the GOP, Romney and
TeamROMNEY and the RNME (Republican National Media Establishment)
decided …to attack Gov. Palin to throw Election2008.

Romney, and the Van der Sloot RNME RINOs for Obama in 2008

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

I couldn’t agree more with you, Kaslin.

I’ll join Kaslin’s comments by saying stop the whining already! This next election is our chance to turn the carrier around but it will not happen overnight and it will take several elections to get it fully turned around. The reality is if the whiners stay home or vote third party, the rudder will be broken for all time and there will be no mulligans.

Just dig in and take the Republican Party back, period. If Obama wins again, there will only be one Party and the re-education camps will decide who gets to join it. Wake the H up and act like an adult.

You may want to rethink who the trolls here are because it sure isn’t Kaslin.

I have the names of the trolls who hit every one of these posts on a ping list.

They have absolutely nothing to add to improve America’s chances of throwing off the shackles of Obamaism, but they sure do post the exact same crappy photos over and over again that add nothing at all to the discourse except to show what fools really post.

Your name is on that list - the one headed by little miss diogenesis.
We will let the adults here work to defeat Obama while ignoring the children wailing in the next room, ok?

It is what it is, simple as that. But explain to us all just what in the H will all your whining accomplish to oust Obama?

Texas is the harbinger of what is to come for the GOPe. Either they can get on board with it or they can set it out on the sidelines years from now wondering how it all came apart for them and their “friends” on the other side of the aisle. Better yet, the people are waking up and August 1st scared the crap out of the establishment.

So how about turning around and row in the same direction instead of whining about the fact that you feel everyone else is rowing in the wrong direction.

OR Conservative.

Mr. RomneyCARE cares .... about himself.

He is hiding here. He is hiding there.
EXCEPT when defending .... Obama.

Romney: "Obama Doesn’t Need a Birth Certificate"

Romney: "The citizenship test has been passed"
