Now how long will the rover operate on the surface. I read it’s nuclear powered. Don’t know if that’s true, tho. I suspect it’s a misunderstanding by the reporter. But... does it need solar panels? Getting away from solar panels would be a big improvement, imho.

Powered by a radioisotope thermoelectric generator, like the old Viking landers. produces electricity from the heat given off by plutonium.
