Romney stood aside from this issue earlier when it was simply their attack on Chick-Fil-A's owners free speech rights.
The other side has upped the ante and as far as I know today Romney has not bother tut-tutting this, even though every GLBT group in the country is issuing public statements 'we were not involved' and diving for cover ~ but they're at least saying it was a bad idea. Not sure if Obama has let this pass into his orbit ~ but what can he lose by condemning attempted murder. What can Romney lose by condemning attempted murder. He needed a presser instantly. Where's his faithless incompetent staff.
Especially when you consider that Perkins and FRC have been among his staunchest supporters for the last five years. They have worked tirelessly to try to help make Romney acceptable to evangelicals.
