Oh, yes, indeed. Texas Gov. Rick Perry's "Trans-Texas Corridor" scheme (which is still quietly going forward, in smaller, less-politicizable pieces, stealthily) is part of the NASCO/SPP superhighway corridor, a much larger bipartisan plan that has a bipartisan committee run by co-chairmen one from each party (one recent co-chairwoman being Eddie Bernice Johnson, a Dallas-area Democratic representative).
George H.W. "Poppy" Bush's administration also displayed an unhealthy interest in herding people back into the central cities so land speculators and developers could get filthy-rich on forced draught. The proof-of-concept demo is Portland, Oregon, which is beginning to resemble the Third Reich, and for very good reasons: the undergirding principles are the same.
Conservatism is destined to lose because we only fight the convenient battles while the progressives fight every battle.
Every time a thread like this is posted its full of complaints about democrats and liberals because conservatives are afraid of harming the party. Its sad but its what it is and its a sure fire loser in the long run.
