President Barack Obamas statement last month during a campaign stop in Virginia that included the line - If youve got a business, you didnt build that - continues to draw fire and has prompted a Savannah, Ga., lumberyard owner to respond in what he calls Chicago language on signs posted outside his three businesses, reports FoxNews.com.
Click here to read the sign posted outside Gaster Lumber & Hardware in Savannah.
The harsh language has been criticized, but owner Ray Gaster said it was necessary. Gaster said he built the business from the ground up over the past 28 years and without help from the government. "When I heard what he said, I said 'I'm going to give him an answer in Chicago language--something he's used to,'" he told FoxNews.com. "If I would have said 'Dear Mr. President...' there wouldn't have been as strong of a response."
The story of Gasters signs, which was posted on the FoxNews.com site Wednesday, was trending early today and had received 13,000 likes on Facebook and been tweeted more than 800 times.
Obama said during his stop in Roanoke, Va., If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If youve got a business, you didnt build that. Somebody else made that happen.
Obama's campaign has said that Obama only meant that businesses rely on the community to flourish, FoxNews.com said.
Opponents have jumped on the remarks and used them as a small business rallying cry, the website added.
"I built this business without gov't help.
Obama can Kiss my ass.
I'm Ray Gaster & I approve this message. "

FUBO!
Get out of The White Hut and get a real job, you lowlife, racist, Marxist, muzzie, commie, hate-America, POS!
And take that lardass, hate-America, ugly-Wookie, EEOC-skank, do-nothing, wife with you!
(Gosh, I feel good this morning. Thanks, Clint!)
LOL!
I love the smell of repugnance in the morning!
The only ones who didn’t build themselves were Obama, Co and Congress. They got a lot of help by stealing taxpayer money.
In before government threats make him take the sign down.
I can only imagine what this man said to those who criticized him. Around here (Michigan) it would be something polite like, “Well, you can stand in line and KMA, also.”
Not in Bloomingdale. Every time I go to Roebling Road Raceway I drive past that place. I will be going again in October, maybe before, and will stop to buy anything, even if it is a splinter.
That is not in Savannah. Bloomingdale has one fire department and only one traffic light that I know of so you get my meaning.
There is one American voter with courage, too bad we have no one to vote for with such courage.
What I wouldn’t give to have one politician with that kind of nerve.
Gadzooks! Don't... I have a copyright on that:
Well, shouldn't I... get some royalties or at least a case of beer?
Oh, Bendy, I just love it... when you speak my lingo!
You know, Bend, it is kind'a an invite... for our Fickle Finger--
Will never happen. God Bless that small business man.
Ha!!
And, This guy must have employees out the wazzoo thanking God DAILY for his continued success-so they can keep getting paychecks and taking care of their OWN families with their OWN money!!!
America the right way!!!
Just substitute "gang" for "business" in the above quote. MS-13, the Latin Kings, the Gangsta Disciples, Crips, and Bloods can all attribute their success to government teachers, roads, and welfare programs. Let's not forget individual go-getters like Berny Madoff, Tim McVeigh, and John Wayne Gacy couldn't have done it by themselves either.
Just to show the idiocy of Obama's world view. If he wants to take credit for the good using the "It takes a village" approach, he's got to accept responsibility for the bad, too.
Please see post 11. Thank-you.
WE ARE NO LONGER SILENT...
We can be polite ( Chick-Fil-A ), or we can be like this gent and be in your face and a little naughty about it...
The Thunder Clouds are building for a storm in November.
They have no idea that a storm is brewing, they get drenched, and they may not dry out for 20 years...
According to the Communists they lay claim to his business because the government built the roads, and sewers, and water lines, and provided national defense. Of course, the Communists fail to understand that his business provided the taxes for those things.
Obama made it perfectly clear that business owners do not take what is there, add their skill, risk, money, time, and labor to it and achieve something greater. He claims their input is nothing compared to the input of everyone else and therefore their profits should be taken and redistributed to everyone else.
The fact is our society provides a foundation for anyone to make more of what is there and create something grater, including profits. If you dont take advantage of what is there and make more of it, why do you then deserve more yourself? When Obama claimed someone made the roads, OK, they got paid to make those roads. Their profits have been realized. They made profit. Done. Why do they then deserve more profits if someone then makes better use of that road to make further profit? A free society is not a Ponzi scheme. We dont give profit to the road crew to build the road then give them further profits as businesses make use of the road, forever and ever. Wouldnt that be nice: Build a mile of road and watch the profits kick in forever and ever as businesses line the road with their factories?
Under Obamas Communist ideal, the first person to make anything at all will always be the richest person as all profits were derived from that persons initial product.
Under Obamas Communist ideal, all actions are absolute, meaning, if a factory hires someone to break ground and dig that first shovel full of dirt, that person gets to claim the factory couldnt have been built without them. Of course that factory owner could have hired someone else or did it themselves but under the childish Communist ideal the factory owner owes a lifetime of gratitude to the person that shovel that first shovel of dirt. Under Obamas Communist ideal a stranger could walk into a factory first thing in the morning, turn on the lights, and then claim profits as, You didnt turn those lights on. I did. You couldnt have operated today unless those lights were turned on, forgetting the factory owner could have just as easily turned those lights on himself and usually did.
Under Obamas Communist ideal, all production is absolute. If a factory produces steel at $1 pound they should get credit for how that steel is used by some other factory and deserve lifelong profits from it. Of course, that forgets a common sense idea that a competitor might come along and offer the steel cheaper and without that lifelong demand for more profits.
Under Obamas Communist ideal, someone should get paid when there are no profits then claim profits as well later. Think about it: A person builds a road and gets paid. There are no profits from that road but they get paid, yet, when there are profits at a later time they should get paid again. According to Obama: You didnt build that road. Someone else did that, as an assumption that once someone else makes profits the Communist ideal says that road builder should be paid again. Obama and the Communists fail to even think about the book keeping hassle that would bring about: Tracking everything anyone ever did to try to ensure they got their Communist Ponzi scheme payments forever and ever.
Under Obamas Communist ideal, a person does not agree to make a product or provide a service for payment, they are actually agreeing to be paid up front and then be paid, again, and again, and again as their product or service is built upon for further profits by someone else. In fact, according to Obamas Communist ideal, a person doesnt actually need to build the entire road, just the first few feet of it as they can then claim, You didnt build that road by yourself, I built the first 10 feet of it and without my contribution that road would have never been built. Of course, thats a stupid argument as the person that built the rest of the road could have just as easily also paved that first 10 feet.
Under Obamas Communist ideal the government does everything: Builds roads, water treatment plants, etc. What he doesnt give credit to is that fact that government has nothing and must take from those making profits from their businesses to perform anything service. Government is not the originator of anything, private businesses originate profits. The government didnt build those roads. Government didnt have any money to build those roads. They usually also have to contract out to private businesses to build those roads. We the People, and our private businesses, built those roads using profits taxed from us to do so. Again, Communists are simply jealous little kids that want to do nothing but get credit for everything while refusing to give credit to those that actually deserve the credit.
Under Obamas Communist ideal, if I buy some food the food producer should get credit for the decisions I make about that food. If I eat that food and it fuels me to work my factory, the food producer should get profits from my factory and though the food producer had a hand in my decision making to eat that food. Of course, Obama wouldnt hold that food producer accountable if I did nothing with that food but threw it away.
Communists do not understand private property rights. If I buy some food then it is mine and mine alone. What I do with it is no one elses business. They are not accountable for what I do with it and they get no further profit from my decisions using it.
Communists do not understand that a road builder was paid for the road and the payer owns the road, therefore, the road builder gets no further profits from having built the road.
Communists do not understand that a factory owner also paid for the roads and has equal share to use them as do all taxpayers that paid for the road. What the factory owner does in his use of the roads that he also paid for is no one elses business.
Obama Didn't Help Build This Business But He Helped To Close it
