Earlier history aside, and certainly an establishment Republican for his entire career, he exhibited the most steadfast conservative principles as VP. To my memory, this is the only disagreement I had with him since 2000, although as VP we probably don't know many of his unspoken positions while in office. I think the world of him and his family.
Reagan would not be pleased.
She did infer that Palin wasn't prepared for the great big world of politics and that she was unprepared to deal with foreign affairs
Cheney counts results?
Then let’s look at the results of the Bush-Cheney administration -— biggest recession since the Depression, leading to landslide Democrat victories, bringing Obama to power.
I agree. And to call him “Dick.” Definitely not the high road.
No kidding!
The verb you are looking for there is "succeeding"
Romney better start making friends soon.
He has friends. The Bushes. And, friends of friends Cheney. Who just dissed Palin. If I am not mistaken wasn’t Willard Bushney responsible for attempting to destroy Palin?
See..friends.
I was not aware that Cheney also received a Brain Transplant for JOE BIDEN!
Not only does this expose Cheney’s political judgment as second rate, it suggests us to take a second look at his own record.
The more I think about it, the worse Cheney’s record looks. As another poster pointed out the other day, he threw Scooter Libby under the bus. Totally inexplicable.
His administration made conservatism look bad, and gave us both Obama and John Roberts.
When it comes down to it, all Cheney ever really did was develop the empty shell of “a true conservative.” It was only appearance.
Sure, I fell for it. But I’m not afraid to admit it. Bottom line is, I know the Constitutional principles I support, and they will never betray me.
Let’s suppose that Dick Cheney is right and that Sarah Palin was unprepared for the 2008 vice-presidential nomination. I don’t happen to agree, and I’d be sorely tempted to ask him whether he thinks McCain should have tapped Art Culvahouse instead, but just for fun, let’s say he’s right about that. Even then, that particular argument was moot by the end of the year. 2008, I mean. It’s now 2012. He’s retired. She’s out on the campaign trail actively trying to get Republicans elected, well, actively at every level but one. I’m really not sure how rehashing that argument and embarrassing her publicly either helps her to do that, or helps them to get her on the team at that one remaining level. And spare me the oh-mah-stahs about her calling him “Dick”. First, it’s his name. Second, he’s heard worse. Right, Big Time? Third, he’s TOLD people worse. Right, Senator Leahy?
She’s not picking fights with these guys even when she legitimately could (I have two ex-McCain staffers specifically in mind). They need to start extending her the same courtesy.
“Your response suggests you have no respect for Gov Palin`s daughter? That`s how it read to me, care to clarify?”
Respect is earned and being somebody’s daughter does not automatically make me respect her. And why should I have “respect” for somebody who is an unwed mother?
I would be a hypocrite if I say out of marital sleeping around is bad and causes societal ill, while respecting somebody just because she is a daughter of one of my favorite personalities.
You had an agenda when you posted on that thread, I was just calling you out.
You can call me a moron, but you cannot deny the fact that single (unwed) mothers are indeed sluts who have whored around. Just because your feelings are hurt does not mean the fact changes.
