I believe Dewhurst was a bit complacent and took his insider status for granted and dropped the ball big time.

I offered up an extra thank you to God this morning when I read this news. God really is in charge.

Complacent??? I saw his campaign as desperate.

Dewhurst poured $11 million of his own personal fortune- he founded a successful energy company called Falcon Seaboard- into his campaign, spending a total of $19 million, as compared to Cruz’s $7 million spent.

If so, then he is stupid and incompetant politically as well as corrupt. He had Dick Lugar as a warning, a long term incumbent with great status in a somewhat less conservative state.

Orrin Hatch figured out. He's entrenched establishment, but he is neither stupid nor incompetant.

Dewhurst figured he could “shock and awe” Cruz with his $$ advantage. But the overwhelming negativity turned a lot of folks away. I’m not sure the tea party aspect deserves as much credit as does Dewhurst’s campaign incompetence.
