So, we have two different men with the same story, but one was owned by a White guy and the other by a Black man?

Actually similar stories of approximately the same vintage..

In theory:

John Casor was a Black man was brought to Virginia Colony by Anthony Johnson who was a black former indentured servant. The story is a bit fuzzy. It seems at some point Castor wound up working for a third person, Robert Parker, and Johnson went to court claiming Casor's services belonged to him for life. The court agreed with Johnson.

OTH, John Punch, a black man, was an indentured servant of white Virginia planter Hugh Gwyn. He escaped to Maryland, but was subsequently caught and sentenced to a life of servitude.

The story that I heard on Glenn Beck, a few years ago, was that Casor was brought to the colonies by a White guy ( I don’t remember the name) and ran away, along with two other white indentured servants. The three men were caught and punished by the White guy, but the punishment for the Black indentured guy was worse than for the two white guys. The white guys got a couple of years added to their contract, while the Black guy’s contract was extended for life and was sold to Anthony someone.

Anyway, the only transcript that I could find on Beck’s web site tells a slightly different story, so who knows. It’s odd that there were two stories at the just about the exact same time in the same place, that were so similar.
