Reminds me of how liberals demonized SUVs a few years ago: owning an SUV was supposed to be a sign of selfishness and disregard for the environment. Funny, you didn’t hear them say much about pickup trucks or powerboats, which are just as worthy targets. The difference was that the SUV owners were people you could reach — the Prius drivers and Escalade owners lived in the same neighborhoods, whereas if your suburban, middle-class do-gooders went after pickup truck owners or sport fisherman, the response would have been somewhere on a spectum that includes contemptuous disdain and righteous outrage.
Similarly, Mr. Cathy is an easy target because, as a Christian and a businessman, he is not interested in baiting or defying his critics, even though he seems admirably willing to speak up in favor of his beliefs. Self-righteous homosexual supporters feel completely comfortable raising a fuss in front of a Chik-fil-A in the mall. Going to the ‘hood to protest in front of a Popeye’s or a Black Muslim mosque? Not so much. Liberals’ willingness to spout off about their moral superiority is limited by their cowardice and laziness.
Unless it's a Cadillac Escalade. Al Gore owned at least one so that purified all of them.
