President Barack Obama's recent business-related comments in Virginia ("If you've got a business -- you didn't build that; somebody else made that happen") sounded more communistic than capitalistic, especially because the "somebody" to whom Obama referred was in fact the U.S. government.
Progressives and the mainstream media were quick to come to the aid of the president by stating that similar statements have been said by other entrepreneurial moguls, such as Henry Ford, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Andrew Carnegie and Walter Chrysler. Others excused Obama by saying he "borrowed" his business verbiage from Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren.
No one is denying the genius of collective contributions or the power of working together. One of my favorite acronyms is TEAM, which stands for "together everyone achieves more." But the key difference between Obama's reference to teamwork and all the rest of those inspirational innovators' references to teamwork is that the latter ones were regarding other individuals' collaborative efforts within their own entrepreneurialism, whereas Obama's was pointing to politicians -- specifically the federal government -- as the business associates responsible for your success.
Look for yourself at how Obama progressively unveiled "government" as the "somebody" in his speech (with italics added for emphasis):
"If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you've got a business -- you didn't build that; somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn't get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet."
In fact, the entirety of Obama's speech points to the prize in partnership with the federal government. Obama believes that it is not your business!
Obama's statements shouldn't come as any surprise, as he has declared emphatically from early in his presidency that "only government" is our savior, and he has supported his socialistic platform through multiple company and corporate bailouts. To Obama, government is your business partner; government is your savior; government is your hero; government is the economic caped crusader who swoops down like the Dark Knight to save your soul, sales and pocketbook.
In fact, Obama's belief in government partnership -- indeed, ownership -- is at the heart of his justification to increase taxes on couples who make more than $250,000 a year, a levy that an Ernst & Young study just showed would cost 710,000 U.S. jobs.
Obama's business comments were an assault on free enterprise and entrepreneurialism. They were not a gaffe; they represent, at the very least, his preferred philosophy for a European type of socialism. The Wall Street Journal even editorialized that the president is "subordinating to government the individual enterprise and risk-taking that underlies prosperity."
The truth is that Obama's statements in Virginia were in no way reminiscent of great capitalists and innovators. On the other hand, his words did smack of a few other societal manipulators:
"Society does not consist of individuals, but expresses the sum of interrelations, the relations within which these individuals stand." -- Karl MarxTo the contrary, America's Founding Fathers declared an independence from governmental tyranny and taxation over personal business and welfare. For them, America was a republic founded upon "We the People" and individuals' rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Government was charged with the sole role of protector, not proprietor, of those "inalienable" rights with which all humans are endowed by their Creator."Production itself changed from a series of individual into a series of social acts, and the products from individuals to social products. The yard, the cloth, the metals that now came out of the factory were the joint product of many workers through whose hands they had successfully to pass before they were ready. (No one person could say of them: 'I made that; this is my product.')" -- Friedrich Engels
"All our lives we fought against exalting the individual, against the elevation of the single person, and long ago we were over and done with the business of a hero, and here it comes up again: the glorification of one personality. This is not good at all." -- Vladimir Ilyich Lenin
"Comrades, we must abolish the cult of the individual decisively, once and for all." -- Nikita Khrushchev
"We must affirm anew the discipline of the Party, namely: (1) the individual is subordinate to the organization; (2) the minority is subordinate to the majority; (3) the lower level is subordinate to the higher level; and (4) the entire membership is subordinate to the Central Committee. Whoever violates these articles of discipline disrupts Party unity. -- Mao Zedong
And now we can add these words to the lineup: "If you've got a business -- you didn't build that; (the federal government) made that happen." -- Barack Obama
Thomas Jefferson explained, "The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only legitimate object of good government." And Benjamin Franklin said: "The Constitution only guarantees the American people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself."
Dare I say that if they or any of our other founders were alive today, they would say, "If you want a business, you build it. You make it happen."
If the Founding Fathers were alive today, the Second American Revolution would be over by now.
They would shake their heads in dismay over what we are tolerating from our government.
I like how he exposes the Communist roots of Obama’s statement.
The sad part is, we the American people...all of us...could have known this about Obama a long time ago and spared America this rot.
Well we actually knew it, sort of, but the idiots didn’t listen to us
I am sick to death of this stupid SOB who thinks everyone on earth is just as ignorant and devious as HE IS himself.
How else could he spew the nonsense he does with any expectation that we will not laugh in his face?
Just because his voter base are easily led, childishly credulous and blindly loyal to the sloppy logic and outright lies of the DNC, “O” thinks that everyone else is TOO!
You know, the funny thing is that if you were able to go back in time and ask Marx who was responsible for his ‘theories’ and writings, I’m confident he would name himself - not the ‘collective’. In other words, he would say that ‘he built that’. I’m sure the same is true of all those who would like to ‘homogenize’ the rest of us - under them. They like the concept of the hive, as long as they are the queen bee.
...and yet the Press, who are in business through a certain freedom - sought so hard to push Emperor Zero into office. They are to blame for any misgivings and unfortunate situations that the US Citizen is experiencing right now.
IF there was a revolution, they would be the first dragged out int he street and shot for their treachery and deceit. They allowed a guy that was not legally and should have never been propped up to serve as POTUS.
So much for Freedom of Press - the MSM operates more like State TV from Iran!
Very interesting article - -love the Socialist quotes — seems like Zero and his staff has read a lot of Lenin and Marx in the past and forgot to cite their sources!
The focus has been exclusively on business owners. Why? Obama's real point in that individuals are not responsible for their successes or failures or crimes, everyone else is responsible.
This is a real key to Obama's thinking, actions and policies.
1. Workers getting up at 5am to work 2 jobs to provide for their families are no more praiseworthy that the bum receiving his unemployment, food stamp, MediCaid, and other government payments. Working hard is not a virtue, because 'you didn't do that work, someone else did the work'.
2. Criminals are responsible for their crimes, everyone else is responsible. Let's bring back Willie Horton, bless algore for finding that one.
3. America is not responsible for her success, all the other countries are responsible for our success. We've exploited them, robbed them, took their wealth and we MUST be punished.
To win with meaning, Romney and GOP candidates MUST attack Obama's philosophy. To 90% of Americans, Obama's philosophy is insanity, upsidedown and perverse. No wonder he's been just a failure.
We knew of radical associations such as Wright and Ayers, a few knew of his avowed Communist mentor, and you’re right, what was known wasn’t heeded by the majority.
But when for example he told joe the Plumber before the election that “when you spread the wealth around its good for EVERYBODY”, he was expressing the Communist view that crushes the individual in favor of the STATE and the COLLECTIVE populace.
If that statement had been lined up with corresponding quotes from famous Communists, that inescapable truth about Obama would have lined up just as well as these Communist quotes line up with his “you didn’t build that, somebody made that happen”.
Obama ran a campaign ad last night that finished with the old Communist slogan being splashed up on the screen:
These guys care less and less that they are disclosing exactly what they are -- our mortal enemies. They've no fear of us at all.
That is why he is counting on the ignorant to reelect him
I’ve read so many of these articles slamming obami I find it difficult to make it all the way through anymore. Obami is a pos and almost everyone with a brain has finally come to that conclusion.
Having been mentored at a tender age by avowed Communist Frank Marshall Davis, Obama came to this view EARLY and never left it.
Elizabeth Warren will keynote the Dem convention and she said this exact thing publicly before Obama did. It is in the radical Dem bloodstream now and they are trying to inject it into America’s bloodstream with all their might.
I love how it so mimics Communist quotes in this Norris piece, that its Communist roots cannot be hidden.
In all humility the saints would say that “I did nothing, God did it all” or “He used me as his instrument.” Replace Obama’s “somebody else” with God and the statement is absolutely true. Obama’s god is the state.
What Obama is attempting here is so much more sinister then people think. Communists must tear down the two things that prevent their ideology from taking hold of America, private property rights and freedom of religion. Obamacare does this limiting the free market from working by fixing prices and by forcing the Church to disobey its conscience.
The Czech Communist Party, with Soviet help, overthrew the postwar Czech government with a relatively small base of cadre. The point being that they were organized. With Communists, taking power is the only, and sufficient, reason to "organize".
It would be good to send this Norris piece to the Romney campaign and anywhere else that might help.
OK, then 0bambi has no right to the millions he got for “writing” his books. They belong to we the people. And Jerko Biden has no right to the rent he forces Secret Service to pay for his protection.
And Pelosi has no right to her offshore accounts, And......
With “O”, the process has become insolently overt and there's NO compunction whatsoever about being as criminally and publicly Anti-American as you like, WHILE enjoying the benefits and privileges of American citizenship (even running FOR and being elected TO the Presidency of the US)
In the past, these political vermin made Herculean efforts to mask what they were doing and to pass themselves off as super-patriots with a real concern for the under privileged and minorities. NOW, concern for the underprivileged and minorities are just another pretext to grasp MORE and MORE power. Otherwise, how account for the fact that with 40+ years of Liberal advocacy for the 'underprivileged and minorities' there remain 'underprivileged and minority' issues IN this country?
These quotes are much better than bemoaning “the old Communist slogan, FORWARD”.
To the public mind that word has not been fleshed out as Communist.
These quotes are very specific and make clear this is Communism, pure and simple.
And this is just their opening bid.
In a second term...
I avoid people who act like there is nothing that can or should be done because everything is hopeless.
If you think the word forward carries the same meaning to the masses that the Communist words matching up to Obama’s latest outrageous remarks, that seems to have you saying, what’s the use, it’s over, nothing works against these people.
The two things, using forward on an ad, vs. the clarity of this Norris piece, are NOT the same.
“Seems like Zero and his staff has read alot of Lenin and
Marx in the past and forgot to cite their sources.”
They haven’t forgotten any citations. You can see them in campaign offices (likenesses of Che Guevara on the wall)
and at past rallies for Obama and the Progressives (Soviet
Flags).
One guesses they might be called tacit citations.
IMHO
