Eighteen months ago, Ted Cruz was a starry-eyed Texas Republican with long-shot hopes of becoming a United States senator. On Tuesday, the former state solicitor general looks headed to an unlikely runoff victory over Lt. Governor David Dewhurst, win that would defy the power of the states GOP establishment.
((snip))
So how did Cruz stay competitive and even climb into what looks like the drivers seat? He leveraged national acclaim from conservatives like Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) and George Will into strong local tea party support, winning an impressive 34 percent of the primary vote and forcing a runoff against Dewhurst, who took 45 percent in the late May election.

You’re right. I missed it. Thanks.
It means Cruz is the next senator from Texas. That’s what it means. Yet another headache for Mitch McConnell. And one more vote for new leadership in the senate.
I am not kidding. As I was writing this, I just got another....ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's to Cruz' victory on Tuesday and Dewhurst going back to Austin to service Perry's cronies.
What a Ted Cruz victory would mean is that Texans finally had a chance to vote for a Conservative in a National election.
It has long been an irritant that by the time I get to vote, the national candidates have already been decided and my choice is no longer viable. The biggest and one of the most conservative states (gotta leave room for Oklahoma) has not had a say in the selection of a presidential candidate in the last two election cycles.
BTW, Rick Perry was a nose-holding choice for Governor for many of us; we did not want a Washingtonian Rino to return to Texas as Governor and tell us how they do it up there.
Our fence line is almost a mile long on a highly traveled road and it is loaded with Cruz signs...
And "Dirty" Dan Patrick is officially kicked out of the T.E.A. Party!
Oh well I’m not broke yet.

Good its time to run his pasty faced old arse outta office before he can’t remember his address either. And he can take McCain and Graham with him.

Hear, Hear!! Right on the money on all counts, cotton.
Tomorrow, Texas for Cruz. Next week, Missouri for Sarah Steelman. Now, that would be a really great week.

I wonder what’s wrong with me. I voted in the primary (and the runoff). but the only ad I’ve seen was a single Dewhurst mailer about Cruz being a trial lawyer(kind of makes you wonder what kind of lawyer Dewhurst thinks is a good kind of lawyer).
Nobody calls, almost nobody mails me things, and I haven’t seen or heard a single political ad (nor any other ad since I don’t watch TV or listen to the radio).
I know how Rodney Dangerfield felt.
The gop/e do not want to hear about it... they do not want to talk about it and if forced to... they will repeat the boehner line of, “We have heard you loud and clear... we know that we messed up but we will do better this time”.
Yeah right.

Oh they can see it; they just don't like it.
Why do you think the National GOP wants conservative candidates? George Bush and Karl Rove fought for the moderate over the conservative in every single Senate primary. Why would they change?
That crazy radio ad here Dan Patrick yells at Ted Cruz, then tells Ted Cruz not to yell at him just drove me nuts.
I have seen lots of Ted Cruz signs in my area and not one David Dewhurst sign.
I’ll be voting on my lunchbreak tomorrow.
