“I wonder if anyone has noted that the 5.56 nato round isn’t exactly known as a man killer. Its primary criticism is lack of lethality. That’s why they dusted off old m-14 for iraq.”

Really? Then tell that to all those dead bad guys from it. The M-14 was dusted off due to needing longer range shots. Guess what? They went back to the AR-15 platform and created the SPR shooting a heavier bullet. It works wonders for longer range and the bullet it shoots works even better in the M4 for very short ranges.

I’m only telling your what I’m hearing. Time and again I’ve heard of soldiers and military arms enthusiasts complain about lethality.

From what I understand, the wounding nature of the round is seen as an asset in some circles. That the theory is that a dead soldier costs nothing, but a wounded enemy requires two to carry him to aid and the medical resources to health him.

Personally, I’d rather make sure I don’t have to put the same man down twice.
