They have no reason to. When they lose, they still get their "fair share" of the loot and don't have to do the heavy lifting. Then they can concentrate on churning out more legislation to justify taking out more money from the treasury and stuffing their bulging pockets.
Neither party really wants to fix anything any more. Every issue fixed is a weapon taken off the table that could have been used to bludgeon voters and the opposition in the next election.
There are some good ones out there and they aren’t always the guy giving the fiery speech. Some of our congressmen actually do work for the American people without looking for a TV camera.
