I agree with the school that says Cheney has arguably done more for the conservative cause in this nation than any person in a generation, including those who merely pontificate from behind a keyboard.

He has been IN the game...in the private sector, in the public sector, and has taken the slings and arrows of the socialists in the media and now, apparently, he is targeted by the self-appointed purists of the chattering chumps in cyberspace conservatism.

Somehow, I think he’ll survive and thrive despite the bedwetters in that arena, too, don’t you? :)

It’s hard for me to remember what Cheney has done for the cause of constitutional conservatism, maybe because it has been obscured by the way the Bush administration was able to make conservatism look bad enough to hand the 08 election to Obama.

Can you name something Cheney has done for the conservative cause?

Does that include being part of an administration that left the GOP a smoking wreck after the 2006 and 2008 elections? Reagan was able to easily hand off the Oval Office to his own vice president. McCain had little chance, and his ONLY chance came when he picked Palin.

Sarah Palin and the Tea Party are the ones who have restored the GOP brand, not the DC GOP establishment.

Cheney strikes me as someone who wants all that power in DC so it can be used by him and others like him. That's hardly conservative.

Cheney is who he is... some good and some bad. He made a few big mistakes when serving at DoD for GHW Bush and he did some very good things too. It is obvious to me that he can no longer be considered a staunch Conservative... not by me at least... and maybe we never should have considered him as such.

He served this nation for a long time... something that was once considered a wonderful gift. I appreciate his service but... with the current state of American politics... I now see career politicians at the core of all of our problems.

He did start out working high up for gerald ford... a progressive republican if there ever were one. His support for homosexual marriage and attacking Palin when it serves no purpose other than to further insult Conservatives and decrease their presence in and influence on the gop... is disappointing in the least. Regardless, nothing excuses his actions and words of today. Cheney will survive... michael moore survives also. That point is pointless.
