CARY, NC -- Fresh from lunch at Chick-Fil-A, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty said that officials' public objections to the Christian-owned fast food chain are "chilling."
"Now you have the police power of government intimidating and threatening people, being used to intimidate and threaten people, based on their free speech rights and their religious views," Pawlenty said Saturday of city officials' objections to president Dan Cathy's public disavowal of gay marriage. "I mean its chilling. I mean its stunning, it is jaw-dropping. And so I think strong people who see this need to stand up and say no we dont do that in the United States."
Several elected officials, including the mayor of Boston, have said that they will discourage the opening of new Chick-Fil-A franchises. Pawlenty noted said that he had sampled Chick-Fil-A's products for lunch earlier Saturday. "It was awesome," he said of the chicken strips and waffle fries he ordered.

And that is EXACTLY our problem. To be surprised by the reaction of these mayors shows just how TOTALLY INEPT our highest-level politicians are, on our side.
I liked what Rush had to say about politicians' and pundits' reaction so far. He said it's pointless and foolish to try to debate or reason with these fascists. The appropriate reaction to them is, "Who the hell do you think you are?" And then you destroy them.
Hobby Lobby closes on Sundays too. The fiends!
Around here, too many are more likely to shoot him in the back.
Scratch a liberal, find a totalitarian.
Democrats and their muslim leader in the White House have an all-out attack on Christianity in the United States. Time to wake up folks!
Proco Joe Moreno is alderman of the First Ward of Chicago, and last week, in a city with an Aurora-sized body count every weekend, his priority was to take the municipal tire iron to the owners of a chain of fast-food restaurants.
It's not about marriage, it's not about gays, it's about a basic understanding that a free society requires a decent respect for a wide range of opinion without penalty by the state.
...Mark Steyn... (he's right)
I actually work in the adhesive business as a competitor to the Gorilla folks, so no thanks.
I was actually thinking of coating the adhesive on the next sticker with some sort of itching powder or pepper spray so the next moron gets a faceful of it.
Evil just hates Him!;-) Always has...always will.
One day you might wake up and discover Hitler is running your country.
Yes, it is chilling, but it set off an alarm which I hope will not be silenced now. Hopefully in years to come we will look back at this Chick-Fil-A moment as the time when the gay agenda reached its height and inevitable reversal. Its long overdue. A line has been drawn in the sand, and there should be no more acquiesence or complacency.
I totally agree. They crossed the line this time.
The really depressing thing is that they basically won. The company is put on the defensive, a huge stink in the media, protests, legal threats, this is every companies PR nightmare. You can bet that the next conservative CEO will think twice before saying anything pro-family.
Meanwhile, if a company is pro-gay, they are cheered by the media while conservatives just shrug and keep spending their money with the company.
Its a war where one side is always on the offensive while the other is content to just timidly respond to the provocations.
It does feel like defeat sometimes. I just don’t understand how America turned from God. We will reap what they have sown.
