Piers Morgan Defends Romney on Questioning of London Olympic Readiness

Mitt Romney has been taking some heat in the past few days for daring to question whether London was fully prepared for the 2012 Olympics.

The candidate, who was chief executive of the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in 2002, is due to attend the opening ceremony on Friday before he continues his foreign tour.

Speaking to NBC News, he said: "It's hard to know just how well it will turn out. There are a few things that were disconcerting: the stories about the private security firm not having enough people, supposed strike of the immigration and customs officials, that obviously is not something which is encouraging."

Moving on to whether Britain is backing the Games, he added: "Do they come together and celebrate the Olympic moment? That's something which we only find out once the Games actually begin."

Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt later dismissed concerns raised by Mr Romney, telling ITV: "The person I care about more is Jacques Rogge, the president of the International Olympic Committee, who said London was the best prepared city he had ever seen.

Now, British CNN host Piers Morgan is defending Romney, saying the GOP presidential candidate is being criticized for expressing concerns over things like security that the British people have been expressing concerns about for months.

Why WOULD Mr. RomneyCARE put down England?

Could it be because Milt speaks French, lived in France,
and is as French as John Kerry, who
endorsed Mr. RomneyCARE?

Western culture has become so pansified that no one can take any kind of criticism, if what Romney said even rises to that level. I frankly want to president willing to call it like he sees it and be less concerned about hurting someones feelings.

The company doing security could not deliver the contracted for number of security personnel so the British had to send in troops at the last minute to make up the deficit. Not a good start.

Didn’t Romney chair an Olympics? He is qualified to comment on the current Olympics, as someone who’s been involved with them himself. He’s not doing it to pick on Britain. Obama is the guy who mailed Churchill’s bust back to Britan, not Romney.

This whole thing is stupid. It’s not some inflammatory international incident. This is media people picking this apart so they don’t have to think deeply about something else that actually matters.

Mitt Romney made a casual, fact-based comment. He indicated a bit of skepticism about the Olympic games in Britain going on without problems, due to the strikes and such. Hardly the big deal the leftmedia is making it out to be. To them, if Romney said that water is wet, they would find some loon to disagree and instantly label Romney’s remark ‘controversial’. The attempt to portray Romney as another Joe Biden is absurd.

‘Now, British CNN host Piers Morgan is defending Romney, saying the GOP presidential candidate is being criticized for expressing concerns over things like security that the British people have been expressing concerns about for months.’

And whats the difference between the BRITISH people and AMERICAN Mitt Romney?.

Also, Piers Morgan is the man who faked photos of British troops beating up Iraqis. Credible man, I think not.

Mild comments or not, he is a guest here and should respect his hosts. It came across as a touch rude and ill-mannered.
If he any doubts, keep em private, and keep his trap shut.

I’d be embarrassed if Cameron questioned American abilities in the US just before it held an Olympics.

For sure - how in the world would someone who ran a very successful Olympics know anything about the Olympics?

Actually 1812 was a draw.
1776 was a win though, lol.

And I am a Scot, we fought on both sides, and I am related to Alexander Hamilton. So there, nyah. LOL.

How did I know you would be here right away? Romney was way, way down on my list of candidates, but this is what we have. It is Romney or it is Obama. Have no doubt that four more years of Obama will make this nation unrecognizable. We will be in economic collapse and envision food riots and severe energy shortages. He will do to all of us what the gay fascists are doing to Chick-A-Fil. You will not be able to give your opinion here because Obama will shut down FreeRepublic.

Are you really a genuine conservative FReeper or are you a troll? Troll really does seem like the answer.

Now I'm completely confused. I'm not sure who to hate.

All I know is I should be hating someone.
