Texans are problem solvers, they get in there and fight, that is a result of their deep, natural conservatism and religious strength, they take all this American and God, and patriotism stuff seriously, something that California has never done.

California was always moderate and indifferent, with no real passion or commitment to anything and they just rolled over gently without anyone really even noticing.

By the way, both states are exactly 38.1% Hispanic.

Agree with most of your post but some of the most conservative areas of Texas bump up against the famous Austin City Limits.

I know! Williamson, Hays and Burnet County are all fairly conservative. But with the urban sprawl of Austin continuing those counties are starting be infested with more and more liberals. Poor Bastrop County use to be a great place to get away to the country. Now it might as well be called Travis County East. Both Bastrop and Elgin are now nothing more than bedroom cities of Austin.
