Obesity provides a potentially informative signal about individuals' choices and preferences. Using NLSY survey data, we estimate that the loan delinquency rate among the obese is 20 percent higher than among the non-obese after controlling for numerous observable, prohibited, and - to lenders - unobservable credit risk factors. The economic significance of obesity for delinquencies is comparable to that of job displacements. Obesity is particularly informative about future delinquencies among those with low credit risk. In terms of channels, we find that the obesity effect is at least partially mediated through poor health, but is not attributable to individuals' time preferences.

Eerily reminiscent of ‘studies’ published in 1930s Germany about the evil, shiftless, inferior, Jews....
Demonize, then destroy with impunity....
All I need to know. Need to get the fat chick out of the White House before she spends us even further into oblivion than she already has.
Facts are facts, and nobody is talking about “cleansing” the obese. I could lose 20 pounds myself, says the wife.
How many of my tax dollars were wasted on this garbage? The authors can sit on it and spin. Will their next study be based on libs and hatered?
Doesn’t matter.....fat black single women on Welfare STILL were given loans that were into Default almost immediately, but that’s a big part (non-qualified buyer loans) that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were FORCED to do; and banks were assured that TAXPAYERS would have their back.....
Except that obese minorities will be a protected class, and be eligible for better loans, etc., and the rest of us (obese or not) will be holding the bag.
I work for a very large Fortune 500 co and there are no obese people...maybe some slightly overweight but that is it and they have been there forever and older. Employers know these people cause them more in claim and lost work time. Every person I have seen hired over the last 2-3 years are fit in appearance.
It's not just weight either...All the reps who go out and call on clients are all 8.5/9.0/10 hot women...every one.
Lot of age/body and facial aesthetics "discrimination" in the big business world.
Being Fat is just another indicator of a lack of discipline and self control.
The same could be said for smokers, alcoholics and drug addicts.
These people lack self discipline and thus are worse credit risks.
I seriously think this is a racist study.
Blacks, hispanics and native Americans are disproportionately obese.
Asians and whites aren’t.
Add video game players and anybody on the internet more than 2 hours of personal time a day. All lazy along with your little group. They should also add anyone who reads more than two hours a day and don’t get me started on those TV watchers. Your little list can be added too easily.
The reverse seems to hold for bankers, stock brokers and politicians. The skinnier the more crooked they are, if you throw in custom suits and anything more expensive than a Beemer you probably hit the 100% level for bad behavior.
Social science is a term invented by evil
eggheads who think THEY should shape society
(goodbye Liberty).
These kinds of correlations can be used to
curtail our freedom in many insidious ways,
even though causal relationships can usually
never be firmly established.
FINAL WORD: Nazis like these need an “evil” group
like the obese to mobilize the masses and grab
power. Those evil hamburger and steak eaters
are ruining the planet./s
It was written long ago by the king given wisdom by the King of Kings:
He who loves pleasure will become poor; whoever loves wine and oil will never be rich.

Are you a greater credit risk than if you were 20 lbs. thinner?
Interestingly, according to the paper at the link, the underweight have the lowest delinquencies. And also interestingly, obesity only slightly indicates higher bankruptcy rates, almost not enough to be significant.
And the more obese the greater the delinquencies.
The paper would have been better if they’d left out the race stuff, it really wasn’t necessary.
