In any group of over a million people you’re going to find some Democrats. It won’t do him any good. It might persuade a few independents that he cares about the troops, if they’re not paying any attention, but that’s about it.

In a county where Obama won over 75% of the vote, they were able to find three white male veterans who voted for Obama and still support him. Given that this was a long time in the planning, they probably could have found six white male veterans locally who support Obama if they had tried hard.

The only time the Democrats haven't won Oregon easily from 1988 on was in 2000, when Ralph Nader drew so many votes from Gore (over 77,000) that Gore carried the state by a few thousand votes.
