I love that movie, and I’ve seen it maybe thirty times. I always recognized that it was anti-communist, but in what way does it relate to the Hiss case?

You know, I was surprised I’d never seen it in its entirety until the other day.

I don’t know the Hiss case well at all, just reading the article, here.

The film is about a guy, a prominint American, stealing State secrets and selling them to a State enemy (unnamed), in the form of microfilm. Thornhill (Grant) asks Saint’s character if she has th pumpkin, something like that.

There is a prominint headline in the paper Thornhill is reading in another scene which says Nixon blah blah stay in Berlin.

Grant’s character is a happy dopey wealthy American businessman who gets roped into this action very reluctantly but is converted into an active patriot.

Well, I should submit this an d get paid for it but who would read it?
