Newsweek may cease its print publication by the end of this year, according to IAC chief Barry Diller, who as of this week owns the majority stake in the company.
During a conference call with analysts this morning, Diller suggested that the magazine would eventually transition to an online-only publication, and that changes would begin to take place as early as this Fall.
"The transition will happen, Diller said. "The transition to online from hard print will take place. Were examining all of our options."
UPDATE: IAC spokesperson Justine Sacco emails to clarify:
[Diller] was speaking about the weekly print industry in general and said that its difficult. Were looking at all options for Newsweek and will have a plan in place by September or October. He mentioned that he thinks at some point there will be a transition to online from hard print, not entirely, but a general transition, but that was in reference to the whole industry.

May I suggest The Sunday New York Times? It’s about five or six pounds of good paper. Lasts all week.

I’m telling you, when that Democrat congresswoman’s husband bought the magazine for one dollar, he overpaid.

Im telling you, when that Democrat congresswomans husband bought the magazine for one dollar, he overpaid. I would be interested to know just which of his heirs pulled the plug on the money that was being funneled down that rathole.

I was addicted to Time and Newsweek for years, a rock-solid customer. I finally canceled both magazines around ten years ago when I just couldn’t stand the liberal bias anymore.
Perhaps I wasn’t the only one...

Newsweek should probably call in Romney and Bain to save their butts. A 'news' magazine so biased the news is often a lie doesn't deserve to be saved.

Degenerate commie homosexual loving baby killer supporting rag like Newsweek wondering why people who work for a living stopped subscribing.
There is no greater threat to the American citizen than that posed by the domestic marxists in league with the sex perverts, trial lawyers, and Washingtonians from both parties in DC.
The threat posed by the raghead camel jockeys pales in comparison.
