Flight of The Millionaires: Reasons to Give Thanks For The One Percent
The Washington Times ^ | July 23, 2012 | Chris Conover

According to the report, those in the top one percent had an average pre-tax income of $1,219,700 in 2009. Of this, they paid $353,000 federal taxes. Despite having earned 13.4 percent of the nation’s income, these individuals paid 38.7 percent of federal income taxes that year. To put it more starkly, this group makes less than 16 times as much as the average household but pays more than 40 times as much in federal income taxes.

I bet those that are fleeing the USA and renouncing their citizenship will still be able to vote in November. And I bet I know who’s getting their votes and it’s NOT the American.

The willingness to abandon one’s citizenship over money is reprehensible. The citizens of this nation can never give enough to even begin to pay for the debt owed to those who sacrificed something far more dear. Your birthright as an American isn’t something you barter away because you think you can get a better deal elsewhere, and if you do, then I’m happy to see you go.

I didn’t interpret this piece as defending the idea of abandoning citizenship. Instead, it appeared to be pointing out one possible adverse consequence of continuing to pile on to the 1 percent etc.

“who sacrificed something far more dear”

Maybe you should also rethink your comment: People can get a better deal elsewhere then why wouldn’t they take it and why would those that “sacrificed something far more dear” approve of what this nation has become to the point people do find better deals elsewhere. You should demand changes in your country instead of demanding people just shut up and take it.

I agree, we've got to come up with better arguments than the nationalist prattle the Nazis and the Soviets used to justify whatever they did. These people are trying to escape Leviathan gobbling up their freedom and property. The government and progressives prefer us to be envious of folks who escape tax enslavement. They want to leverage envy and jealousy to rule us. Don't cooperate with that.

I don’t blame them

If you see all you built having to be sold to pay estate taxes what do you to?

I had a messy divorce, and my ex went on a plan to cause as much financial ruin as possible. The judge let her...

So I let my house go into foreclosure and my parents bought it back at the auction. The bank did not lose one penny on my account and we did not lose equity in the house

Now... the house is worth $400K. If my mom dies after january I would have to sell the house to pay $180K in estate taxes

So the house my children spent their whole lives in will be gone, just to settle estate taxes

“The government and progressives prefer us to be envious of folks who escape tax enslavement. They want to leverage envy and jealousy to rule us.”

Exactly. It seems to be working on some people. Even Hillary said “Dissent is patriotic.”

Only this time, the usual class-warfare technique is subtler and contains a dangerous add-on. It attempts to fool patriots into thinking that jealousy and envy are expressions of patriotism.

In plain language, it aims to make veterans and their likesake nurse the same kind of grudges nursed by the union movement. Only with this variation: instead of using "ruthless" and "predatory," they're supposed to use words like "unpatriotic" and "treasonous."

Rest assured that the agents of class warfare always have an open door policy: everyone's welcome. They're also very good at smelling out an "opportunity" to swell the ranks. For a bunch of people who insist that success in business means selling your soul, that skill is telling.
