Various parts of North and South America (mostly islands) are already in the EU—St. Pierre and Miquelon, French and Dutch Caribbean islands, French Guiana, the Falkland Islands (known to Obama as “the Maldives”), as well as Greenland. But if Greenland becomes independent it would be the first complete nation-state in the Americas to belong to the European Union.

. . . which is not true independence, and is less independent than under Denmark’s rule. The EU’s goal is to abolish national governments anyhow. Take a look at their “Europe of the regions” plan.
