There are better ways to say what Romney’s advisor said.
Apperantly Mitt’s advisor is unaware of a rather significant movement for Scotland to gain independence from the United Kingdom. There is a vote in 2014 for that exact purpose. As a Scottish-American I’ve know about this for some time now..it has been a rather signficant debate in the UK for sometime now. All of the Celtic peoples in the UK are rethinking their relationship with England...but Scotland has moved from theoretical discussions to a serious movemnt to peacefully obtain her independence. Romney’s advisors need to be careful here...an independent Scotland will control a significant amount of oil in the North Sea, and they would seem to be very opposed to any nuclear warship presence in their ports.
Additionally, and likely more importantly on the domestic front, is the State-controlled media and the Obama Campaign will (and already is) going to spin “anglo-saxon” into a racial remark that will be a pain to have to endure. It was an effort to sound “smart” on the eve of a foreign policy trip.
Don’t try to sound anything other then sincere. Speak plainly, speak honestly, and speak respectfully..above all speak to the American people...not to the elitist crowd in DC and the EU...
