Vice President Joe Biden will take questions from reporters on a White House press call today, and as has been the case in the past, the on-the-record conversation will be embargoed until the end of the call.
The curious caveat -- who would write an article during the middle of the call? -- is a product of the post-Twitter presidential campaign, barring reporters from the beloved habit of tweeting remarks in real-time.
But it begs the question: If it's going to be in an article 20 minutes later, why can't it be on Twitter right now?

Simple: he demands their FULL attention, and as inane as his comments are, it’s tough to assure that.
I mean, you could read a magazine, shave or put on makeup, AND tweet his “wizdum”, all at the same time without missing a beat. There’s nothing all that demanding of the listener’s intellect in Joey’s blather.

It is not Damage Control, it is a test run to see if they can get away with it, if they fail they will simply blame “slow joe” and walk away from it. If they succeed then they will impose those new “standards” on the Press relating to the president.
Why isn’t it being broadcast live on MSNBC for the adoring crowds?
Are your really thinking the egomaniacal Baraq Obama would turn down a chance to appear on live television?
To give them time to cover his gaffes- “when I said XXXXX, what I meant was YYYYY”.
So there can't be a follow-up question about the opening gaffe going viral.
