I agree with you completely.

PS. I am not an PSU alumni, either, but as a former taxpayer in PA, it ticks me off that the people of PA have to pay this extortion to the NCAA BEFORE the civil suits are settled. Also, this is corruption beyond the football program, up to the highest levels of the institution. Between this and the hockey-stick graph, perhaps the people of PA would be best served by getting rid of PSU completely.

Keep in mind the defense of Mann was under the administration of Spanier, who should have been fired years ago at PSU. It would be good for the current President to review this case, considering Spanier’s behavior.

Also, wonder how many people on this thread actually read the report or are they taking the media’s interpretation? We, as conservatives, need to educate ourselves and not really on the MSM to tell us what the report says.

(Then you are encouraging Penn State to appeal then...right???)

You are mistaken in your notion here that taxpayers will foot the bill...If you watch this video -- shot Monday in State College -- the admins there (Rodney Erickson and AD Dave Joyner) made it quite clear that NO taxpayer $ would be used to pay the NCAA fine...

See: College Station VIDEO: CDT interview with Rodney Erickson, Dave Joyner and Karen Peetz

(Also, to update what I posted back to this comment earlier in the thread -- I didn't realize that Penn State had already signed the NCAA consent decree to these sanctions...they were signed Sunday night...

Per Rodney Erickson of Penn State @ that same vid link, who signed those sanctions on behalf of the Presidential Council, he had the choice of agreeing to those sanctions or having the NCAA give Penn State the Death Penalty. (He chose the former)

Given that Penn State agreed to the sanctions -- and will not appeal them -- shows they recognize they had a football culture out-of-control...lack of accountability and lack of transparency.

In that vid clip, both of those phrases come thru loud & clear from the three Penn State reps. They know the campus culture needs to change...(the only problem is that they think it will come from the "top-down")
