An Arapahoe County Court judge has granted a request to seal the case against James Holmes, the 24-year-old shooter who killed 12 and wounded 50 during a screening last night of "The Dark Knight Rises."
The motion, filed in Arapahoe County court, asks for the records in the case to be sealed, including search warrants, affidavits, orders and the "case file."
... disclosure of the court records would be "contrary to public interest" and "could jeopardize the ongoing investigation."

How so? You mean private property law?
Watching NBC Nightly News Sunday, the gun control effort coming out of this may have already fizzled. You could tell NBC’s heart wasn’t in it, polls don’t support it and mostly they just showed the typical blowhards. If this was some kind of operation, they wasted many lives for nothing.
I’ve seen many cases closed like this. This is nothing out of the ordinary. The first thing that went through my mind when I heard it was a movie theater was how in the world did he get in the door when it was locked. Someone had to have opened the door from the inside or Holmes had to have fixed the door prior to going in.
I see you’re awake, care for some coffee?
james has a younger sister. His mother , when initially contacted said, “You have the right person.” What did she know and what did she observe? Did he charge all the guns or ammo on the family’s charge card? But even if she knew or felt concerned, he’s 24 and a “brilliant scientist” Could she and her husband done anything? Probably not. He is of age.
“”contrary to public interest” and “could jeopardize the ongoing investigation.”
“”contrary to public interest” and “could jeopardize the Obama campaign.”
There, fixed it.
heck the law in colorado knows what its doing...look at the quality of the Jon benet Ramsey case
Legally speaking, once information has come into the public record (search warrants, etc), the only way to keep that information from the public is often to have the record sealed. Since Holmes is being arraigned tomorrow, sealing this information is likely the only way to keep it from the public (and thus from any other suspects).
Just waiting for Obama to say something idiotic like "if I had a best friend, he would look like James Holmes".
Coffee's been poured already. Thanks anyways.
He didn’t have tear gas. It was smoke grenades.
Remember kids, the Last thing the Government should do is let its own citizens in on the details of a criminal case.
Tear gas was found in his apartment.
Florida has a “Sunshine Law”I know of no other state that discloses so much before trial. There may be..I just am not aware.
I’ve seen gag orders imposed there on participants..but the message gets out via media suing for info..if nothing else.
Perhaps, and just perhaps that giving that this is still an on-going, very fluid and very high profile investigation, with media interests and requests, no make that demands for minute to minute updates coming in from around the world, the police and DAs would just like to be left alone for a while to finish doing their jobs, to build their case against this guy.
And while I think he probably acted alone, if perchance he didn't, sealing the case for the time being may be done as to not tip others involved that the investigators are on their trail. Im not jumping to conclusions over this just yet.
Columbine was and still is sealed to this day. We still don’t know all the facts in that case.
Create a rukus in one area while you boobie trap another. Sounds kind of like how Obama operates.
Actually, it is not contrary at all, the families of the dead and injured are VERY INTERESTED as well as those who are alive. Did they contact the public? Where is there source of this for this untruth. OWS?
+1 ;-)
Did he cancel his FL campaign gig and return to DC out of concern their might be a Fast & Furious connection to the weapons?
Is it a coincidence he comes to CO in the same time-frame of the records being sealed?
Never mind --- back to watching Twilight Zone reruns. /sarc
